Deacon’s corner: Here at Faith, we value Christian education for our children. Our members contribute to the Christian Education Fund in order to help families at Faith, who would not otherwise be able to afford to send their children to Christian schools. If you need assistance to provide Christian education for your children, please contact Mary Kiekintveld at 392-8187 or [email protected] to apply. Applications are due by Sunday July 19. The Christian Education Fund is in need of your support. Please consider a contribution to the Faith Christian Education Fund in the month of May. Additional money is needed as we complete our support for the current school year. Additional Announcements Jeff and Lisa Boehms and family, our missionaries to Thailand will visit Faith next Sunday morning, June 28. There will be a potluck luncheon after the service to greet them and hear more about their ministry. Please bring a dish to pass if you would like to come. This is the final week to purchase your carwashes to help support the Youth Group's service & learning trip to Boston. 40% of the purchase will come back to us. The coupons do not have expiration dates, so stock up for next winter! Next Sunday, June 28 is the deadline. Email [email protected] or put cash or a check made out to Faith CRC in box 153. $6 - Quality, $9 - Super, $12 - Ultimate, $15 - Works. Thanks! It is frozen yogurt time! Stop in at Orange Leaf this week (184 S. River Ave.) for some "froyo" between TODAY (June 21) and Saturday (27th). 20% of your purchase will be donated to our Youth Group's service & learning trip to Boston this summer. You must bring in the orange card in your mailbox or show the coupon on a smart phone (it will be on Faith's facebook page). Thanks in advance! Do you love to bake? We are looking for persons who would like to be part of a church hospitality baking team. Individuals would bake cookies at home and bring them to church once a month to be served during our fellowship time after the service. Please contact Kari or Connie in the church office to sign up. The next food offering for My Brothers House 1 will be collected on Sunday, July 12. We will also celebrate communion on that Sunday. For those involved in the new leadership structure at Faith, please reserve Monday night, July 13 for a training session on how the structure will function. All committees will start together as a large group, and then we will break into individual teams for further work. Thanks to all who have committed to leading in this way! Advance Notice: Seniors’ outing to Shipshewana for a musical at 1pm on July 16. Please let Pastor Tony know by Sunday, June 21 if you are interested so tickets can be reserved. Cost is $31 per person. KIDS HOPE: Six Kids Hope students will go to Camp Roger this week and in two weeks another 10 students will go to Camp Geneva. As Kids Hope directors, we feel this is a very worthwhile experience for the students and is worth the significant financial commitment. Thanks to those of you who have already contributed through your LIFT groups, but we are still significantly short of covering the cost. We invite everyone to consider contributing to this cause. Checks can be made out to the church with "Kids Hope Summer Camp" on the memo line, or cash can be put in an envelope marked for Kids Hope. Thanks! Muriel & Kathy

In other news, we were on hand the other day at the Dallas D/FW airport to greet our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, arriving from Peru after 8 months of successful Spanish language study. We were privileged to travel to Toronto later to visit Mark and Fernanda as they celebrate their 2nd anniversary together.

Finally, in just four weeks, Linda and I will leave for a four-week trip to Thailand to introduce 4 college students to the wonder of Bible translation taking place in Southeast Asia. Your prayers are welcome. We bless the Lord for your constant involvement in our work and ministry. Thank you for making it possible.

MISSIONARY UPDATE Ed & Linda Speyers Update Dear Friends, In 1998 while in Suriname, Linda and I produced and published the 122 page primer, designed to teach Suriname Javanese to read their own language. Its title 'Blajar Matya Jawa', or, "Learn To Read (Suriname) Javanese' with 1,000 copies printed, was meant to attract both new readers and those who would be able to teach reading to their fellow Javanese. But it never materialized. Paidie, our trusty and faithful Javanese literacy expert, suffered a serious motorcycle head injury in the intervening years, requiring years of rehab, putting the literacy project on hold. But wait, God wasn't finished yet! Yesterday we received the good news that a class consisting of 33 Javanese men and women signed up to become literacy teachers to train new readers. Can you believe it? 17 years after publishing the primer, it is finally coming into its use. Paidie, seen on the far left (grey shirt) has also taken the responsibility of spearheading the translation of the Suriname Javanese Old Testament. We are thrilled of course, with this development and ask you to join us in praise, so that Javanese all across Suriname will come to read the life-giving words of the Scriptures in their own language.
