Faith Focus Faith Focus Faith Focus The monthly newsletter of Faith Covenant Church October 2014 36 Years of Faith Spotlight on Local Ministry Youth for Christ (YFC) is being launched in Pinellas County by FCC’s, Janice Meidel. Recently married to Mike Meidel, Janice is the Director of “Girl Talk,” a small group outreach mentoring middle-school-age girls. This effort targets unchurched students for “Come As You Are Groups,” where girls can talk about topics of importance to them, while being directed back to Scripture that encourages them to see themselves through the eyes of God. With the goal of establishing an identity and sense of belonging rooted in God’s Redeeming Love, they hope to change how these impressionable girls view peer pressure, their appearance, interaction with boys, and how they value themselves — which ideally translates into setting and reaching goals. Most of all, “Girl Talk – Come As You Are Groups,” offer 6 th , 7 th and 8 th graders a positive place where authentic relationships are cultivated with the intent of truly hearing their story, sharing an applicable portion of the leader’s story, and ultimately revealing God’s great story. This ministry model is patterned after a successful YFC “Girl Talk” initiative in West Palm Beach, Florida. Although “Girl Talk” is a relatively new endeavor, YFC has been strong in neighboring Manatee County for over 60 years, with thriving Campus Life Clubs, Kids Live for elementary students, an extensive Juvenile Justice Ministry and life-changing summer camp experiences. Now SunCoast YFC is coming across the bridge to Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, joining 135 other countries across the globe in carrying out the legacy of YFC’s first paid employee, Billy Graham, of reaching out to lost youth. Please contact Janice at [email protected] if you are willing to pray for her. She is part-time with a bigger-than-full- time goal, relying on prayer and God’s empowerment. If you have a lead into a potential middle school or a possible interest in co-leading or leading a weekly 75 minute group for the school year, please give her a shout @ 414-333-8078. invited to enjoy pumpkin desserts and fellowship! For
planning purposes, please sign up for the event in the

Pasta & Popcorn Night
Mark your calendars for Sunday, Oct. 26th, from 5-8 p.m., when we
are having a Pasta Potluck and Movie with Popcorn night! The pasta
potluck is to celebrate having reached our goal of collecting 2,000 pounds
of pasta for the Salvation Army, as they distribute groceries to families in
need. How many pasta recipes can you think of — pasta appetizers, pasta
salads, pasta main dishes, pasta desserts...?
The after-dinner movie, “Heaven is for Real,” and popcorn, is for
more fun fellowship time. You won’t want to miss it.

Congratulations!
On September 11th, the Pryme Tymers gathered at the Helbig’s home
to celebrate a very special occasion — Wally and Lenore’s 60th wedding
anniversary! Since coming from Chicago to Faith Covenant 20 years ago,
we have enjoyed having them with us as great examples of:
Faithfulness, to each other and to the Lord,
Graciousness,
Hospitality, and
Humor and joy in all circumstances!
