St. Pio of Pietrelcina – A Model of Faith

Jesus said, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move hence to yonder place,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you” (Matthew 17:20). The Capuchin priest Padre Pio had great faith in God and the fruits of faith were seen in his life. He received the stigmata and had the gifts of prophecy, conversion, the reading of souls and miraculous cures. His prayers and works contributed to many personal conversions and even to the building of a hospital, The Home for the Relief of the Suffering in the city where he lived. But Padre Pio suffered for all that he did. His stigmata caused him a great deal of pain throughout his life. Also he was reportedly visited by the devil who attacked him physically and spiritually. Through it all, he persevered in love and faith in God.
