Celebrating Success On Tuesday, May 14th, Red Maple readers in grades 7 and 8 will travel to Harbourfront Centre for the Forest of Reading celebration. This year’s winning novel will be announced on the WestJet Stage – chosen by thousands of student voters across Ontario and beyond.

On Wednesday, May 15th, Silver Birch readers in grades 4 to 6 will make the same trip to Harbourfront Centre to meet their favorite authors and cheer on the nominees. This is the Oscars of Reading and we’re very proud of the commitment and enthusiasm of our Forest of Reading club members! Special thank you to Ms. Miller for all of her leadership and support of these two programs and our students.

Track and Field – Volunteers Needed! On Thursday, May16th, students in grades 4-8 will be participating in the school track and field meet. A letter follows with more specific information. If you are able to volunteer during the day, please contact the school office at 905-476-5447 with your availability. Thanking you in advance.

We are looking forward to cheering on our students as they actively participate in the many planned events! Thank you in advance to all of the staff for coordinating and supervising all of the events - we are thankful for all of their hard work!

Ottawa Trip The Grade 8 students had an opportunity this week to visit the Nation’s Capital – Ottawa. During a jam-packed itinerary, they visited a number of historic and national sites including: Parliament, Rideau Hall, National War Monument, War Museum and Art Gallery, Supreme Court of Canada and a Gala evening on the water. Students had the opportunity to meet and shake hands with The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada. Many thanks to the families and staff who supported this memorable experience – one we are sure they won’t soon forget!
