By the end of the year there

were 187 Fairtrade certified

producer organizations in 18

countries in the region. Of

these, 118 were small

producer organizations, 19

were contract production

organizations, and 50 were

plantations or sports ball

Growers Association of

Vava’u (VGA) became the first

farmer association in the

archipelago state of Tonga

to achieve certification
