Fairhaven Fun Summer Scavenger Hunt Continued...
So let’s begin:
First with some history…
1. The Fairhaven area first appeared on maps in 1913, but first appeared on City maps in 1973. When it was first designated as an area all the street names had one thing in common. What was it?
2. Over time many of our street names were added and changed. Five of the names have been given to honour past aldermen and City Councilors. Three of them were, James Priel, George Anderson Forrester and Edward Harris Crimp. Please name the other two.
3. H. S. Sears park is located in the heart of Fairhaven. It was also named after an influential person in Saskatoon’s history. Who was this person and what role did they play in Saskatoon?
Part Two: Let’s go for a walk in our neighbourhood and see what you can
find…
1. The FCA initiated a community garden which has been a huge success the last few summers. Head over and take a team picture in front on the garden with your “Green Thumbs Up”!
2. The City of Saskatoon offers summer playground programs from July to the end of August. Head over to our local paddling pool and take a group picture—either in the pool or participat-ing in a playground activity.
3. The FCA, along with some amazing sponsors have provided our community with a fabulous skating rink. Take a group photo in the rink with winter clothing on. (will accept toques and scarves) ** Bonus points if you can name the rink coordinator a.k.a “The Rink Guy”.
4. Fairhaven is home to 2 schools—one public and one catholic. Name them: ** Bonus points if you can also name the principals.
Part Three: Visiting some local businesses…
1. Warning! Brain freeze may occur! What am I and where can you get me?
2. He used to play hockey, but is better known for his restaurant chains. Who is he?
3. They can’t fly, but they have great wings. What is this business called?
4. Eat fresh and do it your way...they can be as big as your foot. Name the business.
** Bonus points if you include a receipt from any of this 4 businesses.
Thank you for participating in this scavenger hunt through your neighbourhood and Happy Hunting!
