University Grant of Rs.100,000 (USD1000)

• First student in Greenfield estate sponsored through Fairtrade premium to gain university entrance from Haputale district
Education - Scholarships
• Special education grants of Rs. 5,000 per month(for 6 months) was granted to 6 students to re-sit the advanced level examination and complete schooling.
• Due to lack of teachers in schools and financial issues, students in the plantations tend to not complete schooling.
• Acknowledging the issue Greenfield has taken on projects (in addition to Fairtrade premium projects) to support students to complete secondary education and open up the possibility of tertiary education.
• Student who have completed the O/L’s successfully are grants a scholarship of Rs. 25,000 to pursue their education.
Books for the Library
Books in all the languages – Tamil, Sinhala and English
were purchased for the library.
Seminar for Year 5 students sitting for the Scholarship exams
• A seminar was organized for students sitting the Year 5 scholarship exams.
• Students passing the exam is granted entrance to leading schools in the country.
• Tuition fees are paid by the government. • 450 students, from 12 different schools in Badulla district
participated.
