Prof. Suprabhath Roy Chowdhury spearheads the Department of Hotel Management at Manav Rachna. He comes with a rich experience of over twenty years with renowned hotel brands in India and overseas.
Having grown up in the foodie city of Lucknow, feasting on the kebab parathas and pulaos in its bylanes and Bengali food cooked at home, Prof. Roy Chowdhury moved to Mumbai in 1997 to join the most prestigious hotel management college in India, the IHM Mumbai and started his career with The Taj Group of Hotels as a Management Trainee in Food Production.
Prior to joining Manav Rachna, Prof. Roy Chowdhury was the EAM at Crowne Plaza Nairobi after completing two years as Director F&B at Holiday Inn New Delhi, during which he was also designated as the regional champion for restaurants and bar for IHG Hotels in India. He has also been the Executive Chef at Le Meridien Gurgaon, Eros Hotel managed by Hilton, Nehru Place and Inter Continental Nehru Place. He has been credited with conceptualising and opening of the multi award winning restaurant, The Pink Poppadom at the Hyatt Bangalore where he was the Executive Chef. He has also been the Chef de Cuisine at Nina, the award winning fusion restaurant with an Indo-European concept menu at the One and Only Royal Mirage, Dubai.
Prof. Roy Chowdhury has acquired a fine understanding of cuisine and F&B concepts over the years and the same is reflected in his bold and fresh take on food and artistic and modern presentation styles. When not making new strides in the world of gastronomy, he enjoys reading, travelling and photography.
The unique features include choice based credit system for imparting knowledge and a very robust mentoring system. It has a strong industry link, highly experienced and well qualified faculty to lead the next generation of hospitality professionals for employment, entrepreneurship and skill development.
Industry-driven curriculum is geared to strengthen the foundation and it challenges the students to develop conceptual, analytical, technical and managerial skills thus enabling them to compete and meet the changing needs in the challenging world of hospitality. It provides the necessary ecosystem for research, innovation and creativity.
Prof S.K Saluja comes with an experience of 38 years in the field of hospitality.
An alumnus of Oberoi School of Hotel Management and PUSA Institute, Pune; Mr. Saluja is a National Award holder in the field of “Excellence in Hospitality Management” for “Best Administrative & Operational performance” awards for CIHM. He has held several senior academic roles in prestigious organisations, including Amity, G.D. Goenka University & Galgotias University.
He has implemented award winning and record breaking schemes of the Government of India like the mid-day meal scheme preparing up to 18000 meals a day!
He has also implemented the concept of Hospitality Entrepreneurship at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies.
He is passionate about creating young budding hospitality professionals and entrepreneurs through experiential teaching methods so that these students can be the leaders of tomorrow.
