Reviewer Perspective •  Elements of the proposal

–  Focus on the abstract (letter to grandmother) •  Why is it important? Why should it be you doing it? •  Include specific aims

–  Specific aims should follow from abstract •  Include hypotheses to address

–  Know the criteria for evaluation (significance, investigator, innovation, approach and environment)

•  Address them, and provide points for reviewers to base their evaluation
