LeafletsA leaflet is a form of an open letter which contain information about a specific subject or event. These are given to people to help sell a product and are inserted in newspapers or can be found separately in places such as shops, restaurants and colleges. If the leaflet is neatly published and distributed it can help gain credibility. Most leaflets use bright colors for both fonts and backgrounds to make theirs stand out from the rest. More formal leaflets however will use more dull colors because they are more interested in the information than the layout. Leaflets can be used for many different purposes. For example museums and galleries make leaflets to tell people what’s on where as shops, hotels and restaurants will use them to advertise things they sell. More whacky leaflets will be used for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries to give to friends and families. Leaflets can come in all different shapes and sizes butAll have the same purpose which is to sell information and data to the reader. Pretty much all leaflets will come with a clear heading to give the reader an idea straight away on what the leaflets about. Leaflets willAlso usually contain some sort of contact whether it be an email, telephone number or both.

Leaflets

In my opinion this leaflet is confusing and most certainly has ambiguity. This is because there is 5 or 6 colors which makes the leaflet lose its originality and instead just looks a mess. Despite saying this the information is accurate but has no clarity because of the fact it is hard to know where to start with this leaflet and isn’t clear and easy to understand. This leaflet however does have conciseness as it uses fewer words as possible.

Instruction ManualsInstruction Manuals can be used to describe anything from how to use a camera to how to set up a bike. Instruction manuals are most commonly found in step by step formats. These manuals can vary from a simple, short 4 step instruction or a more advanced and complicated 20 step instruction booklet. It is most likely setting up instructions for a kids game for example will consist of easy to follow steps, where as ‘how to set up a fridge’ for example will most likely require a larger brain. In most instruction manuals, the layout is simple and boring but majorly effective.

Instruction manuals are pretty much info graphics which contain text and small graphics to help you explain and are related to the topic. One some occasions they will leave a contact number just in case you are unable follow through with the instructions correctly. Some manuals might also leave an advert in there to help promote their company further as they will do anything these days to make extra profit anyway they can.

Instruction ManualsAs you can see this is a guide of a camcorder. This manual uses clarity in the fact that it separates different parts of information to make it clear and easy for the reader to understand. This is because they have put the subtitle and numbers in bold to make it easy to pick out the information. This manual guide is accurate in its information and also avoids ambiguity as it makes sure that there is no room for interpretation by presenting clear information rather than vagueness and uncertainty. The use of the boxes to separate different information makes the guide easy to follow and understand and gives it great overall clarity. The use of the blue on the graphics gives you the instinct that it is important information.

How To GuidesHow to guides give the reader advice and tips as well as a step by step guide through a variety of tasks. How to guides can be found in computer games, on planes among other games. For example in a computer game there could be a guide on ‘how to kill a zombie’. One of the most well known how to guides is ‘how to use an oxygen mask in a result of a crash’. This is always demonstrated before taking off on a plane and is one of the most important and vital guides out there. How to guides can come in all different shapes and sizes and range from various fonts and colors depending on who the guide is targeted at. Little graphics will be used for younger kids, where as most of the time just text will be provided for adults. They always stick to simple text to make it easy for the reader to understand the steps clearly and use a relatively simple format to avoid needless distractions.

Factual JournalismFactual journalism is a type of writing that informs people about events that have happened such as the assassination of a head of state or environmental issues. It can appear in a huge range of formats from newspapers to magazines and websites. Factual journalism articles usually contain a big bold font and pictures. The pictures are usually in black and white because the stories are usually negative and potentially bloodcurdling. Factual journalism is always formal and as in the name it is just facts and not opinion based at all. These articles will always stick to simple fonts and text as it would be deeply inappropriate to use word art for example when someone's been assassinated. The commons are arranged orderly just like a regular newspaper article and usually contain a header.

This also avoids vagueness and uncertainty because of this reason. The ethics and standards comprise principles of ethics and of good practice as applicable to the specific challenges faced by journalists. The principles f journalistic codes of ethics are designed as guides through numerous difficulties, such as conflicts of interest, to assist journalists in dealing with ethical dilemmas.
