It’s called duct tape, jesus tape, gaffer tape, hur- ricane tape or riggers tape. The Mythbusters geeks have been testing its powers out in recent epi- sodes and the web world has plenty of worshippers. Two of those are The Duct Tape Guys — Tim and Jim. The site is not particul- arly slick-looking, but it is an ode of love by Tim and Jim to what they call ‘‘The Ultimate Power Tool’’. It has links to preacher sermons that have used duct tape to get a biblical point across. There’s their YouTube clips on the many uses of duct tape (such as mincing garlic with a hammer while garlic is duct-taped to the chopping board). Then there’s the exten- sive duct tape art gallery, including pics of an Ameri- can flag made out of 1120 rolls of the stuff. They’ve got photo essays of the time a man was ‘‘ab- ducted’’ using duct tape and then taken shopping. And finally, of course, comes the practical joke applications, such as carcooning (which sees a car wrapped in gladwrap, then in duct tape).
