CAMPUS, LOCATION AND FACILITIES
Academic Calendar
The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Rome Tor Vergata was founded in 1982; presently this Faculty offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Media and Communication Science. The School of Science of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” is located in a building which houses four academic departments: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. On the ground floor and first floor professors’ rooms and labs are located. The second floor houses the classrooms, the scientific library, the Administrative Office for Students, Students’ Service office, Offices of the Dean and Erasmus Students Office. The Faculty has a range of study facilities supported. These include: • 38 classrooms; • A scientific library, with study spaces for individual and small groups;
borrowing; PC workstations including the use of Internet for researches; • 15 Didactic and Multimedia Laboratories. • 115 Laboratories dedicated to research and graduate studies;
Finally, the building of the School of Science is located in Via della Ricerca Scientifica, 1.
The academic year is divided, for the different Degree Courses, in modules made of lessons and/or laboratory practical work, at the end of which exam tests are held. The courses that Erasmus students take are the same as those taken by Italian students studying for their degree. Lessons usually start on the first week of October and are divided into trimesters or semesters. Exams are held in three sessions: Autumn (September), Winter (February), Summer (June-July). A student prospectus, with a list of the Courses and the programmes is issued at the beginning of the academic year. Classes are interrupted during Christmas time (from 20 December to 10 January) and in August.
