RE: Temporary & Permanent Road Closure Due to the construction project activities in the area of the Historic Courthouse, Judicial Building and the 1988 Main Jail, we need staging area space for construction materials, equipment, and fixtures. Additionally, this will provide security of the construction area for the followings projects;
1) Security Vestibule Entrance 2) Historic Courthouse first floor renovations – code compliance scope of work 3) Historic Courthouse second floor renovations – code compliance scope of work 4) Historic Courthouse third floor renovations – code compliance scope of work 5) 1988 Main Jail renovations
In order to facilitate these needs, I am recommending temporary road closure of a section of East Anderson Avenue; from Florida Ave. to the inmate transfer bridge. I anticipate the timeframe being 18 – 24 months. As a result of the 1988 Main Jail renovations we will be constructing an enclosed public transfer corridor from the new Security Vestibule Entrance to the existing (1988) Main Jail. Also, to improve security for the Jail and Judicial Building we are recommending a permanent road closure from just west of the inmate transfer bridge to Pine Street at the east end of the Judicial Building. Please see attached aerial photos delineating the affected area.
