MADE OF:- outer membrane- inner membrane- stroma (fluid)- thylakoid - thylakoid membrane- granum (stack of thylakoids)- starch- ribosome- plastidial DNA- plastoglobule (drop of lipids)

FUNCTION: photosynthesize; make energy using chlorophyll

MISCELLANEOUS:they are an increasing interest in the genetic modification industry because plastid DNA is not carried in pollen, so injecting transgenes in these prevents a spread or trace of genetically modified species.
