Amplifying the flexibility
Gogoasa-Filimon Diana
FabLab
The material that I chose to mork with was cardboard. Thismaterial is practical, resistant and you can change the furniturewhen you want because is a recycled material.
I chose to work with it on the entire FabLAb, not only on thefurniture, but also for the ceiling and the decorative objects.
Material- Cardboard
ConceptThe idea behind the concept is that FabLAb is a place where everyonehas to be able to learn how to use different machines to build "almostanything". FabLAb is a place where people can meet, talk, work together, exchange information, share experiences and knowledge.
FabLab is about movment and change. Is a dynamic space, where peoplecome, create, interact and then leave. So the place have to be able to offer the possibility to be changeddepending on needs.
As a reference I used the Flexible Love designed by Chishen Shiu. Hecreated a chair made entirely of recycled cardboard, which can stretch forup to 16 people, and then shrink, almost disappearing when not needed. It expands like an accordion allowing a maximum of flexibility and agreat variety of form. The benches you can create by opening FlexibleLove can be curved or linear, also allowing adaptability to differentenvironments.

Vertical Panelsscale 1:10
Vertical Panel
Closing Panel
The orizontal and vertical pannels are madeof 10 pieces of cardboard with a thickness of5mm. After the pieces are cut, according tothe instructions, they are glued together inorder to create a more robust structure. Onepannel will have a thickness of 5 cm beingable to sustain the entire shelf but also heavyobjects like materials for the model, workingtools, models or books.
Experiencing FabLab-instructions for assembling shelves-
Step 1. Assemble all the vertical pannels type 1 with anhorizontal one.
Step 2. Add the second horizontal pannel.
Step 3. Add the separation pannels. Step 4. Continue assembling the shelves with thehorizontal and the separation pannels
Step 5. Add the vertical pannels type 2 Step 5. Turn the objects in the corect positionReady to use
