Operational modes

Normal mode

The FA-170 receives both unencrypted and encrypted AIS messages, and transmits open unencrypted AIS messages. Vessels can be seen within the encrypted group, as well as open unencrypted group.

Rx only mode

The FA-170 does not transmit anything over VHF, and receives both unencrypted and encrypted AIS messages. Vessels using Rx only mode are hidden to all vessels.

Restricted mode

The FA-170 transmits only encrypted AIS messages including position report and user editable text messages. It receives both unencrypted and encrypted AIS messages. Vessels using restricted mode can only be seen within the encrypted group.

Displays the decrypted AIS message on ECDIS/Radar

When the FA-170 receives an encrypted message from the group, it automatically decrypts and displays the message on the FA-170 or interfaced ECDIS, radar, NavNet 3D/TZtouch/TZtouch2 and other navigational equipment.
