GOAL Alert: Anti Freedom Resi-dents In The Town of Reading Will Be Voting To Ban the Legal Dis-charge of Firearms and Hunting.

December 3, 2014.

It has come to GOAL’s attention that a group of Reading residents have included an article to be vot-ed on at a special Reading Town Meeting, scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Please note: It is not unusual for a town meeting of this sort to run for mul-tiple consecutive nights. Back Story: The genesis of this ar-ticle comes from a property owner whose land is near conservation land. Within the conservation land there is a parcel of private

property which is perfectly legal to hunt/discharge firearms on.

The complaining property owner appeared before the Board of Se-lectmen on September 23, 2014 demanding action be taken to shut

down legal hunting and shooting before hunting season started.

On that date the complaining own-ers said some interesting things:

“the issue is, that with permission, someone can shoot a gun.” Also,

“we’re concerned that it’s legal to discharge a gun.” They also allud-ed to this being the first step to-wards a larger freedom ban when they stated that “we’re taking this one step at a time.”

10 Year Old Milford Student Suspended for Using “Imaginary Weapon”

December 2014

Mike Sweeney:

Milford Student Caught in “Zero Tol-erance” Web.

A 10-year-old Milford 5th grader got caught up in a “Zero Tolerance” web and was suspended for pointing his finger and making laser sounds at school.

The student, named Nickolas Tay-lor was in line in the cafeteria when he pointed his finger, an “imaginary ray gun” at nobody in particular and made the laser sound.

The boys father, thought the schools reaction was over the top and also slanderous towards the boys char-

acter, stating that “he’s just a typical boy with an imagination”, he also pointed out that the finger pointing was non threatening.

Nonetheless, the Assistant Princi-pal, Noah Collins listed the offense as a threat on a conduct slip.

After the suspension, numerous re-porters tried to reach out to the As-sistant Principal, Principal and Su-perintendent of the school system, none of them would comment or return a call.

This suspension was based on his use of an “imaginary weapon”. The school’s 88-page handbook, lists threats as an offense punishable by detention, suspension, or even ex-

pulsion based on the severity.

School Committee Chairperson Scott Harrison was willing to speak to the press and said that the pun-ishment for an offense is at the dis-cretion of the school administrator.

Interestingly enough, the school’s handbook explicitly lists toy weap-ons as items banned from school grounds; yet, there is no clause that addresses imaginary weapons. Es-sentially the school administrator that suspended Nickolas made it up as he/she went along.

The boy’s dad also wanted to note that Nickolas has no history of disci-pline outside detentions for incom-plete schoolwork. He noted that Nickolas is confused as to why he was punished and has a hard time understanding what he did wrong.

What exactly are we teaching our children with zero tolerance poli-cies, which punish finger pointing, playing with pieces of paper ripped into an “L” shape, or chewing a Pop Tart into an L and now using an “imaginary weapon?

We have to ask, do we really want to trust our children with adults who possess no common sense and lack the moral courage to make a sound decision (and then back it

up) regarding right and wrong? We send our children to school to be educated. That education should never include being taught to fear an inanimate object, nor should it punish the use of imagination, es-pecially when there is no ill will be-ing displayed by the child.

It’s no secret that our public schools have, for the most part, been infil-trated by a progressive, anti-gun agenda which is taught to our chil-dren through subterfuge as we saw with this suspension. This misguid-ed attempt at education will bear no fruit and it won’t stop, nor curtail a criminal intent on doing harm.

It does do a good job of confusing children though.

We hope the residents of Milford straighten this policy out with their town administration.

GOAL News Print Edition December 20144

December, 2014

Going back over the last two to three years we have often encoun-tered groups of medical doctors who are organizing, crafting a message, and implementing pro-tocols which will enable them to strip a law abiding citizen of their Second Amendment rights.

We first encountered the doctors at public forums, which were sup-posedly organized to be group dis-cussions about “gun violence”. For the most part these forums were nothing but networking for pro-pagandists, the sharing of ideas on how to restrict the rights of the law abiding.

In all reality the meetings should have been called “Straw Men, Blame, Spin and Distortion, Best Methods For Disarming Law Abid-ing Americans”.

As always with those who seek freedom restriction, they are sneaky, underhanded liars who take advantage of a complicit me-dia to broadcast their message.

Their message? “Gun violence is killing millions, guns are bad, guns kill people – this is a public health crisis, we must DO SOMETHING”. Without fail they distort numbers and repeat the lie, over and over and over.

Recently a new group of these doctors assembled in Waltham to “discuss” what they can do. As al-ways, they had a sympathetic me-dia covering their event, let’s take a look at a story that appeared on-line today.

As always it started with a gross and spectacular distortion of sta-tistics - “Since 1960, more than 1.3 million Americans have died in fire-arm suicides, homicides and unin-tentional injuries. In 2010 alone, more than 31,000 Americans died by gunfire.”

Now that sounds pretty sensa-tional doesn’t it? What the author isn’t telling you though is this. In 2009 our murder rate dropped to 5.0 per 100K people, an all time low, not seen since…. 1960, when it was 5.1 per 100K. In addition to

that, the murder rate has dropped every year since 2009. The rate in 2013 was 4.7.

So, where exactly is the epidemic?

Simply put, there isn’t one. Re-gardless of that, they compile numbers; spray them around as facts and viola instant crisis.

Of course, they don’t stand pat on just one flat out lie, they add an-other, and the article continues – “Public health research has shown that firearms violence is directly related to firearms availability and density.”

Let’s take a look at that one for a second; according to the doctors “firearms availability and density” leads to more gun violence. Well, we already showed that we are at an all time low for murder per capita. Is it possible that the doc-tors are unaware of the incredible surge in gun sales during the last decade plus? We doubt it, surely this is just another fact that they disregard and or sidestep, as it doesn’t fit their agenda of deceit.

Americans own more guns per person than any country in the world, by a lot. Yet, our murder rates are relatively low, so, once again, where is the epidemic?

The article continues with a text-book example of lie repetition – “Gun violence is a public health issue; that’s nothing new,” Gross said. “Violence is a public health issue; gun violence is like other dis-eased processes that threaten our life.”

He said gun violence has become so commonplace that many people seem immune to it whether they view it on a television program or on the news.

“Gun violence is a threat to all of us,” Gross continued. “It affects our so-ciety, most often those at the young end of the spectrum, and takes the lives of those with promise and the chance to be productive.”

I have to give it to the reporter; she

managed to cram the words “gun violence” into three consecutive sentences, four times! Boy, that journalism degree is sure paying off. This is a textbook example of repeating the lie.

To make thing even more ridicu-lous, the doctors are trying to paint the non-issue as a “public health crisis”. Some are going as far as comparing it to AIDS or Ebo-la. The doctors are including “gun injuries” in their data, then tally-ing up the number and estimating the medical cost of taking care of those injuries.

You know that saying about people living in glass houses not throw-ing stones? Let’s take a quick look and compare M.D.’s to gun owners.

The top three causes of death in the United States, in order, are to-bacco, alcohol and medical mal-practice. According to JAMA, doc-tors kill more people than auto accidents and guns.

Here’s the numbers, these are on average and verified on multiple websites:

• There are approximately 700,000 physicians in the United States.

• There are approximately 120,000 accidental deaths in the United States caused by physicians every year.

An article published in the Wall Street Journal in 2012, written by Marty Makary shed even more light on the amount of doctor deaths and other gross mistakes; “Medi-cal mistakes kill enough people each week to fill four jumbo jets.” He continues; “The same prevent-able mistakes are made over and over again, and patients are left in the dark about which hospitals have significantly better (or worse) safety records than their peers.” How’s that for a scary thought? Not only are doctors killing people at an alarming rate, we as con-sumers can’t access information

Trillions and TrillionsWith all the national media focused upon Ferguson and events in New York City, aided and abetted by the race industry pundits such as Al Sharpton and his ilk, you may have missed two events that slipped qui-etly under the radar this past week.

The first was the national debt, like an unstoppable juggernaut, ticked past the $18 trillion mark and keeps on rolling at an almost unbelievable pace as we borrow and spend money we don’t have. While troublesome as it is, and on target to end up being 20 trillion by the time Pres. Obama leaves office, equally troubling was the fact that we are no longer the world’s number one economy. All those red white and blue big foam hands with a finger sticking in the air proclaiming the United States to be number one are now obsolete. It’s a sad fact to have to swallow, but then this administration has wanted to to deny American exceptionalism since the day we voted them in, intending to fundamentally change America. Well chaps, I have to say mission ac-complished on the economic front.

That big foam hand with its finger ex-tended in the air proclaiming number one, numero Uno, top dog is now red with a yellow star. Yes, the world’s number one economy is now the Peo-ple’s Republic of China.

Both the increasing national debt to a number that is really hard to actu-ally grasp and the fact that we have

slipped to the world’s number two position, according to the interna-tional monetary fund, leaves me deeply concerned that we in America don’t truly understand the signifi-cance of these facts.

Do you really have a grasp of under-standing how big $18 trillion actually is in absolute terms? It’s so easy to say isn’t it? A trillion dollars. $10 trillion, $18 trillion are just a number that we and the media glibly throw around and watch as the debt clock inexora-bly increments up and up and up.

So I sat at my desk and did some scrib-bling in order to try and put this into some kind of perspective. Abstract numbers, like trillions, really just roll off the tongue with no true meaning in everyday terms, so I made a few conversions.

Let’s treat 18 trillion as seconds rather than dollars. If you are count-ing out that money in the warehouse where it’s been stored, and you can count one dollar bill every second, it would take you 570,000 years to fin-ish counting the stash. but then you’d never really finish at the rate they keep adding to the debt, rather like Sisyphus rolling that rock uphill for all eternity.

The nearest star system to our sun is the triple system of Alpha Centauri, which is a distance of 4.2 light years away - a light year being the distance light will cover in one year moving at 186,000 miles a second. If we turn the 18 trillion into miles, then that puts

our debt miles starship at three quar-ters of the distance to the nearest star - by 2016 it will have made it into or-bit around Alpha Centauri. There’s a frightening a very sobering thought.

Now, many pundits will tell you that most of our debt is owed to the Chi-nese. That is just not true. As of May 2014, we owed China $1.27 trillion and Japan $1,27 trillion out of a total of approximately $5.7 trillion to over-seas nations, which also happen to include Belgium and the United King-dom.

My bigger worry is not the fact that America is now number two in the world economical scale, but what China is doing with its economic power. Its increase in military spend-ing at a time when our spending is declining due to sequesters and bud-get cuts should be a source of con-cern for all of us. China is flexing its military muscles muscles in the Pa-cific and increasing tensions with the United States. Unlike the West, China has been planning for long-term and still continues to do so. It has very advanced cyber warfare capabilities and is a growing power in space ex-ploration.

It’s hunger and appetite for natural energy resources should be a concern

to all of us, as their economy and mili-tary continue to grow in strength.

Our deficit situation is unsustainable and we will soon reach a point where all the revenue from income tax will go to service the interest on our na-tional debt, forcing the country to borrow money again to pay for basic functions such the military, Social Se-curity and infrastructure. This in turn increases the interest payment on the debt and drive in the country into a death spiral of borrow, spend and in-terest payments.

Bettina’s Take By: Bettina Romberg

Reality Is Inescapable

Have you ever noticed that some people have the notion that, when they claim something to be true, it is so, just because they said it? This happens a lot with politi-cians, but it happens with others as well. Most notably, it happens when politicians discuss your un-alienable rights. They will call your rights promises, or say that the Constitution does not apply any more because so much time has passed since it was written. Sometimes they ignore them out-right pretending that, because they ignore your rights, they do not exist.

What motivates them to be-have this way? How can they call themselves our servants and act against us? Where do they get the ideas that cause this attitude of ar-rogant disregard to our rights, that which they are charged with pro-tecting?

If you have studied Philosophy, you know that Politics is one of the five branches of Philosophy (the others are Epistemology [the study of knowledge], Metaphysics [the study of existence], Esthetics [art] and Ethics).

Philosophy provides us with a comprehensive view of life. Each branch asks a specific question about living on earth. Metaphys-ics asks: What is out there? Epis-temology asks: How do I know it? Ethics: What do I do? Politics: What actions are permissible? Esthetics: What can life be like?

Metaphysics and epistemology give us the base of philosophy, the axioms, while the other three branches provide other essential parts for living on earth. For ex-ample, someone cannot discuss

honesty (ethics) without discuss-ing how they know it (metaphysics and epistemology).

This also gives us a way of check-ing our premises when we find an error in our thinking. More on this later.

The fundamental issue at the heart of this attitude that someone can say something and expect it to be true lies in metaphysics and the individuals view of existence and reality. There are two schools of thought in metaphysics: the pri-macy of existence and the primacy of consciousness.

The primacy of existence is the statement and fundamental premise that existence exists. It is an axiom and means that the universe exists with all its compo-nents independent of our mind. That things are what they are and have a specific nature.

The primacy of consciousness is the idea that the universe does not consist of independent enti-ties, that they are the product of consciousness. That someone can think of something, and therefore it exists.

It ought to be clear that the found-ing of the United States is derived from the primacy of existence. Your rights are real, they are yours and nobody can take them away from you.

If you have spent any time around children, you know that they pos-sess wonderful imaginations, yet they know that what they dream up in their minds is not real. They are learning about that which is around them and have their feet firmly planted in this world, the primacy of existence.

So where does the primacy of con-

sciousness come from, if we do not know it as children? It must be learned. It is learned through-out the school years and is ram-pant in higher education. The idea that whatever someone thinks up is valid as a form of reality comes from the ideas of one philosopher in history, Immanuel Kant. He taught that our minds could not perceive reality, that what we see is a distortion and that the “real world” is unknowable to us.

Immanuel Kant was a thoroughly destructive man; and today, un-fortunately, his ideas are taught throughout our higher education-al system. Universities like Har-vard are arguably the fountain-head of such ideas, since they are looked at as the premier centers of learning in the world.

Sadly, many of the most power-ful people in our recent political history have studied at these in-stitutions, taking these horrible, destructive ideas with them. We can see the effects today when we look at how our rights are being in-fringed from every direction.

Infringement on our rights stems from an error in metaphysics as

applied to politics. It is essentially an error of someone’s view of re-ality, of what is real and true and what is pure fantasy and imagina-tion.

The only way to fight such an error is to not let them get away with it. We must tell them at every chance that our rights are ours and it is their duty to protect them, not to violate them.

If you wish to see the consequenc-es of following the primacy of con-sciousness, you need only look to our neighbors south of the border. In case you did not know, the pre-vious President of Mexico studied at Harvard and currently works there in the School of Govern-ment. Many other Mexican politi-cians studied there as well.

Mexico’s law-abiding citizens have been disarmed and the criminals run rampant, murdering anyone who stands in their way. The most recent atrocity, the disappearance of over 40 students, caused riots in the streets of Mexico City, stop-ping traffic for weeks. Although their remains have now been found, the government did not lift a finger in justice.

This is where the primacy of con-sciousness can take a country if left unchecked. This is why we cannot let them get away with infringing and ignoring our rights as if they do not exist. Our rights are unalienable. There can be no compromise, equivocation or horse trading on that what exists.

Note: Do you know how anyone can purchase a firearm in Mexico? It is not through the drug cartels. No, simply ask the local police-man. The Mexican Police sell the guns that they confiscate in busts to the highest bidder. It is a dan-gerous proposition, however, be-cause if caught and not a member of the ruling elite, the new owner is summarily sentenced to 40 years in prison.

We have to break the cycle of en-titlement mentality in this country if we are to do anything about re-ducing the rate of increase of our national debt and actually reverse this trend, driving to a situation where my old grandmother would say that you cut your coat accord-ing to your cloth. In other words you live within your means, and resist raising taxes on a shrinking workforce.

I for one am not happy about the fact that the Chinese and now the world’s number one economy. It’s Christmas and the holidays - a time when we all go shopping for bargains as gifts for loved ones and family. In my family we’ve initiated a policy of checking the items before we put them in our shopping basket to see where they are made. If it’s made in China, we put it back and look for something equivalent made in America. Now, this is not always possible to do, so then we ask ourselves the ques-tion: do we really need that trin-ket, that gadget or item of cloth-

ing that was made in the People’s Republic of China? Its not that we are anti China in any way, we’re just more interested in promot-ing American jobs and the Ameri-can economy rather than sending

profits back to the Chinese.

If we all did this for the next year in support of American manufac-turers and American goods, we could reverse the situation and

help increase jobs in the American economy.

What a year! What a year – A Note of Thanks!

2014 turned out to be a hectic, stressful year, full of twists and turns, with a seemingly endless schedule of public forums, meet-ings and legislative action. Our Executive Director, Jim Wallace spent countless hours away from home working to ensure our rights were protected and the GOAL Staff handled an unprecedented vol-ume of students, mail, messages,

donations, membership applica-tions and more.

We had our ups and downs, great events and rallies; we met lots of great new people and caught up with old friends. During the year, we were continually amazed at the tireless efforts of our members who, responded to what seemed like weekly calls to take civic ac-tion. Your hard work literally shaped a new opinion in the State House regarding protection of our Second Amendment rights. This

will pay dividends as we go for-ward, resolved as always to pro-tect and restore our enumerated Second Amendment freedom in Massachusetts.

As we reflect on the year that passed we want to once again thank all of our members for the hard work, paradigm shifting civic action and continued financial support.

You make everything we do possi-ble and we greatly appreciate the

opportunity to represent you, and all of the law abiding gun owners of Massachusetts.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

there has never been an issue, they’ve stated that no damage has ever occurred, they’ve even stat-ed that they are not sure that the noise is coming from the parcel in question.

This does not stop them from try-ing to restrict your freedom. The article is now known as Article 10 and is included on the warrant for town meeting on January 5th. Should this article pass it will over-ride state law and ban hunting on private property in the town of Reading.

There are two ways that you can help:

Reading residents - Please call/contact your town meeting mem-ber today and let them know that you do not support article 10. Ask that they vote article 10 down. Also, please attend your town meeting and speak out against this rights ban.

Non-Residents - The town meet-ing is open to the public. Please note that non-residents can speak but must receive approval via a majority vote of the quorum pres-ent at the meeting. If you can, please attend, support is always appreciated. If you are a member of Reading Rifle & Revolver please attend!

Walter Marshall and his wife Dorthy set this article into motion when they asked for an immediate ban on lawful hunting/shooting at the end of September.

Reloading Bench By: Jim Finnerty

Are Your Sizing Dies Overworking Your Rifle Brass?I was resizing a batch of .223 cases that consisted of about 80% British military brass (RORG 89 headstamp) and 20% Federal brass (FC 12 headstamp). I was using an RCBS standard (as opposed to small base) full length sizing die. As I was working, I realized that that by feel alone I could sort the cases by head-stamp with 100% accuracy. The difference in feel was not so much evident when the case was pushed into the die, but was quite obvious when the case was being removed from the die - while the expander ball was being drawn back through the case neck. The RORG 89 brass required a much harder lift to get the expander ball through the neck.

Why?

The first step in finding out “why” is to take some measurements. It would stand to reason that cases made by different manufacturers might have differ-ent case wall thicknesses, and that is indeed what we have here (See Figure 1). The FC 12 brass is 0.010” thick, and the RORG is 0.0135” thick. To understand why this has an effect on the force required to extract the case from the die, it’s important to review the role of the expander ball in full-length resizing dies.

The Expander Ball

When you extract a bottleneck case from a full-length resizing die, you will first feel resistance as the case initially frees itself from the die. As you further raise the handle to lower the ram, you will feel almost no resistance for the next inch or two of ram travel, followed by a noticeable period of additional resistance just as the case is fully extracted from the die. This final bit of resistance is caused by the expander ball being pulled through the case neck. This is where the difference between the RORG and the FC 12 brass was very obvious.

The expander ball is necessary to ensure that your case necks all have a con-sistent inside diameter After resizing - regardless of the thickness of the case.

When a cartridge is fired, the entire case – including the neck – expands. The resizing die needs to reduce the diameter of the neck to the point where it will once again hold a bullet with the proper amount of tension. Since cases from different manufacturers vary in wall thickness, the reloading equipment makers design their dies so that the portion of the sizing die that reduces the diameter of the neck is small enough to reduce even the thinnest-walled cases so that the neck ID will be 0.002”-0.003” smaller than the bullet diameter. As a result, the die will make the neck of any thicker case much smaller than it needs to be, which is why it is necessary to employ an expander ball to in-crease the neck ID to the proper diameter.

You read that right: First the die makes the neck ID too small, and then it ex-pands it back to where it should be. Ideally, the neck would only be slightly undersized so that the expander ball barely touches it on the way out. That was clearly NOT the case with the RORG brass and the RCBS sizing die that I was using.

To figure out just how much the case necks were being over-worked, I mea-sured the case neck inside diameters of the two headstamps before resizing, after resizing with the expander ball removed, and after resizing with the ex-pander ball in place. The results are shown in Table 1.

over-worked brass becomes brittle due to work hardening.

Is it the same for all manufacturers of dies?

I wondered if simply changing the brand of die would fix the problem. So I purchased several manufacturers’ full-length .223 resizing dies to try out. The results are shown in Table 2.

Case Type ID Before Sizing ID after sizing w/o Expander Ball

ID after sizing w/expander ball

Difference (over-worked)

RORG-89 0.228" 0.213" 0.221" 0.008"

FC 12 0.231" 0.216" 0.221" 0.005"

Die Manufacturer ID after sizing w/o Expander Ball

ID after sizing w/expander ball

Difference

RCBS (Standard) 0.213" 0.221" 0.008"

Lee 0.215" 0.222" 0.007"

Hornady 0.215" 0.220" 0.005"

RCBS (Small Base X-Die) 0.218" 0.221" 0.003"

Redding 0.217" 0.221" 0.004"

Some dies seem to be better than others, with the RCBS Small Base X die and Redding dies leading the pack. By “leading” I mean that they only overwork each case neck by 0.003” or 0.004”. So, it appears that simply changing brands of dies will not completely alleviate the problem. What else can we try?

Use Bushing Resizing Dies

Manufacturers have realized this shortcoming of full length sizing dies, and have developed a type of die called a bushing sizing die. A full-length bushing sizing die features a replaceable insert (the bushing) that sizes the neck (see Figure 3). The manufacturer offers a series of bushings for each die to accom-

modate a range of case wall thick-ness. To select a bushing, you load a sample round, measure the finished outside diameter (at the neck) and select a bushing that is 0.002” smaller than your finished sample.

Using a bushing die will force you to presort all of your cases by head-stamp before sizing to ensure that your selected bushing will provide the proper neck tension. In my ex-ample, I would require one bushing for the RORG brass, and a slightly

smaller bushing for the FC 12 brass. The bushing dies are equipped with an expander ball that shouldn’t do very much expanding if the correct bushing is used, however it is needed to remove minor dents in the case mouths.

Bushing dies are available for commonly loaded calibers. Manufacturers gen-erally do not make bushing dies for unusual calibers. Unfortunately, “unusu-al” calibers are generally the ones that require the use of expensive brass that you want to avoid over-working.

Hone the die ID

If you cannot find a bushing die for the caliber you are loading, you can hone or lap the inside of a standard sizing die to minimize the amount that your cases are over-worked.

Modifying a die makes the most sense if you have a large quantity of brass from a single manufacturer. If you have mixed brass, you can still benefit from modifying your die because standard resizing dies tend to overwork even the thinnest cases. To determine the proper final dimension for the neck portion of your die, repeat the process described above for selecting a bushing. If you have mixed headstamp brass, use the finished outside diameter of a loaded sample of the thinnest wall headstamp.

Instructions for honing and lapping dies can be found online, or you can sim-ply drop the die off at a local machine shop with instructions.

Do nothing

While my observation was interesting enough (I think) for an article, I’m not in a hurry to do anything about it – with the possible exception of trading my RCBS sizing die for the Redding. Even without the die change, the .223 ammo I’ve been loading with my overworked RORG brass is sub-MOA (in other words, it shoots groups less than 2” at 200 yards). I’m not seeing any neck splits ei-ther; the normal failure mode for my cases is primer pockets loosening up af-ter a number of reloads. I keep my brass grouped by number of times fired, so even if the sizing die is contributing to excessive work hardening, all of the cases should work harden at the same rate, and the groups shouldn’t open up.

It’s clear that my resizing die is overworking both types of cases, but espe-cially the thicker RORG-89 brass. Overworking the brass in this way can result in neck misalignment and/or excessive bullet run out (both of which will ad-versely affect accuracy), and premature case failure due to neck splits because

on “good” or “bad” hospitals, and they’re going after law abiding gun owners?

It gets worse though; “The prob-lem is vast. U.S. surgeons operate on the wrong body part as often as 40 times a week. Roughly a quarter of all hospitalized patients will be harmed by a medical error of some kind. If medical errors were a dis-ease, they would be the sixth lead-ing cause of death in America—just behind accidents and ahead of Al-zheimer’s. The human toll aside, medical errors cost the U.S. health-care system tens of billions a year”

“Tens of billions a year” mean-while they’re organizing, trying to call the ever decreasing amount of gun fatalities an “epidemic”. Could they be more ridiculous?

This issue becomes more trou-bling when we look at how our government has taken control of our healthcare. The many pieces coming together could create a “perfect storm” for law abiding gun owners. We’ve already seen the pieces come together in New

York where we recently read of physicians reporting patients to the government, and then check-ing their names against the new gun registry (thanks to the SAFE Act), the police then respond and forcibly disarm the patient.

It’s pretty clear that this inquisition and the doctors who are organiz-ing to go after our Second Amend-ment rights are getting guidance from above, for if they were truly interested in saving lives, they would be taking a long, hard look within their own ranks.

When doctors with an agenda en-able themselves to become the arbiter of our rights it sets forth a very slippery slope. Lets be ever vigilant regarding this issue to en-sure that this scheme of rights in-fringement does not come to frui-tion.

I’d like to – at some point – compare the accuracy of rounds sized with a bush-ing die to those sized (and overworked) with a standard sizing die, but that’s a project that will have to go on “The List” for later.

See you next year! I hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Joyous Kwanzaa, Fantastic Festivus, and a Happy New Year.

THE RENEWAL NO-TICES WILL GO OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER, SO THAT GIVES EVERY-ONE FIVE MONTHS TO RENEW HIS/HER MEMBERSHIP. PLEASE – mail your renewal to Brian at his home address as requested in the re-newal paperwork.

FOBS - We still have 2 Members who have paid their $5.00 for the FOB, but haven’t picked it up. We still have 30 Members who haven’t paid anything for a FOB and don’t have one.

The next New Member Orientation will take place in April 2015, if we have open-ings. We will not know how many open-ings will be available until after the April 2, 2015 Monthly Meeting. Indoor / Outdoor Ranges:

Mike Henry: The next Work Party is scheduled for 12/16/14. The January Work Party is on 01/11/15. Remember, Work Party credits are tied to the new re-newal schedule.

We have new target holders for the Indoor Range. Unfortunately, we have some members who cannot read. Please help your fellow club members with reading comprehension issues. Please remember to use the dud bucket. Try to remember to put duds only in the dud bucket. Ex-pended brass goes in the brass buckets.

Website:

Website maintenance continues on an almost daily basis. Craig Hibbert has made numerous changes to the calendar, updated the format to support a new tab with meeting minutes and maintained the home page. Please contact Bill for any questions regarding the website.

President’s Report – Al Bonofiglio

1. The new target hangers and the plastic “clip and shoot” that’s attached seem to be working. There seem to be fewer hits to the target hangers themselves. They last a long time – they can take many hits before needing to be changed. If you see people NOT using them, please show them how to used them.

2. The new gate should be operational next week. If you pull up and the red gate is missing, you will pull up to the card reader on the left – wave your fob in front of it and the gate will open. The same goes for when you leave. A second car should be able to come through. Emer-gency vehicles can open the gate with their radios. Tim will confirm that West Boylston uses the same frequency.

3. More details to follow on the 100th An-niversary.

4. Al contacted a sound engineering com-pany to conduct a survey of the indoor range and waiting area. Our wall seems to be pretty good, but with all the hard surfaces on the range (steel, concrete) the sound is being projected outward. They quoted $2,500 - $3,000 to conduct the survey and provide a list of compa-nies and materials that we would need to lessen the sound. They may also pos-sibly make recommendations regarding improvements to the wall. Any changes would probably be made in the Spring so

we wouldn’t shut down the range during the winter.

5. The Club donated $100.00 for Christ-mas for Children. Mike Swett explained that WTAG radio station is collecting money for families who are unable to purchase gifts for their kids. When Mike made the donation, he challenged other Clubs and Members to match it.

6. Al read the thank you note from his Aunt Shirley. The Club sent flowers upon the passing of Al’s Uncle.

7. Jim Colonese has offered to provide First Aid training for our RSOs and to help stock First Aid Kits. Details are be-ing worked out and training will happen early next year. We will develop standard operating procedures for events. RSOs will be responsible for the Kits and will wear vests which identify them. The Club will also purchase a defibrillator.

** RSOs PLEASE CONTACT JOHN GABRIEL OR JOHN HINSON **

OLD BUSINESS –

NEW BUSINESS –

John Gabriel suggested that Kahr Arms might be willing to create a WPRC tribute pistol? Or perhaps WPRC grips?

Mike Swett made the motion to give $350.00 to the Boylston Fire and Police Departments. Motion was seconded. Discussion: Mike explained what the Fire and Police Chiefs have used past dona-tions for. Motion passed unanimously.

As GOAL is reducing newsletter distribu-tion, a member suggested we consider an opt-in Emailing of Club minutes. Al explained that any information that members need is published on the Club website.

Good and Welfare of the Club

Check your casings when they come out of the gun to see if they’ve been de-formed, misfired. Important, especially if you’re using reloads.

Pick up your brass on the outdoor range! This is very important.
