Principal's Message Thank You Mrs. Drews
It is with mixed emotions that I share that Vanesa Drews has been promoted to Executive Assistant to the Associate Superintendent. While I am excited for Mrs. Drews, I know her dedication to our community and the services she has provided to us for the last eight years will be greatly missed. Vanesa has been a stalwart member of Quail Lake Environmental Charter School, and she leaves us having improved many of our systems and practices. Thank you for all you have done for us and best of luck in your new endeavor.
What a week in Falconland! Thanks to our community, FCA collected nearly 5,000 items, including tooth brushes, deodorant, combs, etc to distribute to those in need in the Fresno Community. Thank you for your support of this student-led endeavor! Also this week, Jayden Ponce placed 5th in the Fresno County Spelling Bee! Congratulations on his great effort! Ag Day was a tremendous success. Once again, our community “stepped up” to help our team give the students a great day of Ag Science learning and fun. Finally, a big thank you to PTO for their part in bringing Mr. Hagerman’s Science Wizardry to our school. Our students enjoyed having some fun with the science they are learning in the classrooms! Make this week great! See you on Thursday for Muffins in the Morning and I’ll looking forward to seeing our track athletes compete in the Niizawa Relays! Go Falcons!

S.E.L. Scoop Social Emotional Learning
Relationship skills are the fourth component of SEL. This section is about creating and maintaining healthy relationships by cooperating with others, communicating clearly, listening well, resisting inappropriate social pressure, negotiating conflict constructively, and seeking and offering help when needed.
Literacy and STEAM
Around the World April 3rd from 5:30-7:00 pm RSVP forms can be found on Peachjar
We are collecting recyclable building supplies such as clean food/cereal boxes, paper towel or toilet paper rolls, and plastic packaging. Thank you!
Literacy Tip Have Fun with Words
Increasing vocabulary is one of the most effective ways to improve reading. Play with words. Learn a new word a day with your child. Solve crossword puzzles together. Make vocabulary fun!
What’s Happening In... 6th Grade
We are getting creative in ELA during our narrative writing unit. Students will be writing narrative stories about experiencing extreme weather and hiking in the Grand Canyon. Did you know that April is poetry month? Students will be learning about figurative language and will be studying a poem a day for 8 days. Our last novel we will be reading this year is entitled Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. Students will create graphic notes as we read. Research has begun on ancient China and we will begin preparing for our Open House project “Civilizations Come Alive”. In math, we are finishing our unit on ratios and percent. Next up is our geometry unit. In science, we are working on our energy unit, learning about types of energy and specifically, thermal energy.
Athletics Update Volleyball
The Quail Lake Boys’ Volleyball team has made steady progress throughout the season. They’ve improved their serving, passing, and setting in becoming a well-rounded team. The boys are also learning the importance of representing themselves, our team, and school in a positive manner. We are looking forward to our next three games and are pushing for a strong finish to the season. Go Falcons!!
