SEBI’s Notifi cation of the NISM - Series – VI: Depository Operations Certifi cation Examination (DOCE)

SEBI has issued a notifi cation dated March 29, 2011 regarding NISM-Series VI: Depository Operations Certification Examination(DOCE) launched by National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) which states that

NSDL appointed as Registrar for UID National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) has been appointed as a Registrar by Unique Identifi cation Authority of India (UIDAI) for enrolling residents following the protocols, standards, processes and guidelines laid down by UIDAI.

(NSDL commenced the enrollment process of Residents for AADHAAR conducted at Ghaziabad, Delhi)

NSDL’s Participation in Golden Maharashtra-Mega Exhibition Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC), Government of Maharashtra and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) in association with MultiNet Worldwide celebrated the 50th year of Golden Maharashtra by hosting an exhibition at BKC Grounds, Bandra (E), Mumbai from April 28, 2011 to May 1, 2011. (a) dealing or interacting with clients; (b) dealing with securities of clients; (c) handling redressal of investor grievances; (d) internal control or risk management; (e) activities having a bearing on operational risk, or (f) maintenance of books and records pertaining to the above activities, shall have certifi cation from the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) by passing the NISM-Series-VI: Depository Operations Certifi cation Examination (DOCE).

Discontinuation of conversion of Mutual Fund Units represented by SoA into dematerialised form through AMC / RTA

Conversion of Mutual Fund Units represented by SoA into dematerialised form through Asset Management Company (AMC) / Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA) for mutual fund ISINs (security type code ‘20’) has been discontinued.

Further, the existing procedure for conversion of Mutual Fund units represented by SoA into dematerialised form – through AMC / RTA for ISINs (security type code ‘13’) is also discontinued. Henceforth, conversion requests can be submitted only through Participants.

NCDO training / certifi cation programmes for Participants NSDL conducts training and certifi cation programmes for Participants to increase the availability of trained personnel for depository operations. In April 2011, such programmes were conducted in Agra, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolhapur, Kolkata, Mangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Varanasi and Vizag. In all, 1,185 persons attended the training programmes conducted at these locations.

Clients of the above mentioned Participants can now avail of the facility of submitting various instructions through SPEED-e facility.

6. Is there any further benefi t of the e-token option in SPEED-e facility ?Ans. Following are the additional benefi ts of e-token option in SPEED-e facility: � e-token user can transfer securities to any account unlike password users where transfer

of securities is permitted only to three pre-notifi ed Clearing Member accounts. � Single e-token can be used to access all your demat accounts, opened with the

same DP. � Facility of multiple authorisation. � You can freeze your demat account or any particular ISIN or specifi c quantity within

an ISIN yourself, through SPEED-e. The account frozen using SPEED-e can be unfrozen only by you. Thereby you can deliver instructions and transfer securities when you wish, lock the account and unlock it only when you need to, i.e. complete control of your account in your hands.

7. How does one operate jointly held Demat Accounts through SPEED-e ?Ans. For password based operation, only one user can operate the account. Joint holders will

have to give a Power of Attorney to one joint holder among themselves. For e-token based operation, in addition to what is stated above, all the joint holders can operate the account independently or jointly using multiple authorisation facility.

8. What are the features of SIMPLE?Ans. SIMPLE (Submission of Instruction through Mobile Phone Login Easily) is a facility which

enables the password based users of SPEED-e facility to submit instructions on SPEED-e website through their mobile phones.

The Salient features of SIMPLE are as follows: � This facility is available for password based users of SPEED-e facility. � Users can submit Client to Clearing Member Pool Account transfer instructions on

SPEED-e website through their mobile phones. � Mobile phones of the Users with GPRS facility can be used for accessing SPEED-e

website.
