We made a net profit of $2110.10 – thanks go to Sheila Savage who co-ordinated the event and to the following people who came and assisted on the day – Lisa and Rob Hoysted, Taryn Mudge, Michelle Cozis, Chris Tancheff, April Poole, Peter Cox, Nancey Blair, Jodie Sanford, Lol Milojkovic, Narelle Hood, Steve Stones, Sheila Savage, Sarah-Jane Balharry, Erica Cooper and Kirsten O’Callaghan. A special thank you must go to Pauline Jones, who unable to aend at Bunnings, sliced up 20 kg of onions all by herself- a mammoth task. At assembly last Friday two of our students, Isabella and Paige announced that they were going to be fundraising for the Royal Children’s Hospital, by making and selling Loom Bands. This decision had come about from the informaon that they had listened to at the previous week’s assembly where six of our senior students had delivered a report on their visit to the Hospital and the Murdoch Research Instute. One of our parents, Leonie Aust, who aended the assembly was so thrilled at Isabella and Paige’s resolve, that she has donated a large quanty of made up loom bands and items of loom band jewellery along with materials for the girls to make their own. Mrs Thompson has also donated to the girls a loom band kit to provide materials for the girls to make the bands- they are certainly going to be busy, but it is a great cause that they will be supporng. On Sunday, one of our parents, who wishes to remain anonymous, spent the day at school in preparing the garden beds along the north wall of the new year 3 – 6 building and planng a large quanty of plants which he has also donated. The area looks absolutely fantasc, and I thank him on behalf of the school. Last week we received delivery of three new external doors to replace doors in our older building that have seen beer days. These have been donated to the school by The Door Store in Moorabbin, through the efforts of Will Chadwick whose four children aended Seaford during the 1980’s and 90’s. We are in need of somebody in our community who has some experse in hanging doors to help us with this task and anybody who likes to paint, to paint them up aerwards. Please let me know if you can help with either of these tasks. We also have need of a plasterer. If anyone has any contacts I would love to hear from them. Earlier this year the KID reps had a fundraiser to purchase a large “Friendship Tree” near the entrance to the new building. It was decided that a Crepe Myrtle would be ideal and so we made approaches to Lynne at Bunnings to source a tree that we could purchase. Lyn and Bunnings insisted that they would donate the tree to the school, so this, along with two Ornamental Pears also donated by Bunnings, have now been planted and we look forward to spring when they bloom. We thank Bunnings for its connued support which now means that the KID Group have the pleasant task to decide what to spend the $169 that was raised can now be spent on. The Spirit of Seaford it would seem is alive and well! Here are some examples just in the last week-

We had a very successful fundraising sausage sizzle at Bunnings Frankston on Sunday with a huge

number of volunteers assis'ng on the day and in the days leading up to the event. We made

a net profit of $2110.10 – thanks go to Sheila Savage who co-ordinated the event and to the

following people who came and assisted on the day – Lisa and Rob Hoysted, Taryn Mudge,

Michelle Cozis, Chris Tancheff, April Poole, Peter Cox, Nancey Blair, Jodie Sanford, Lol

Milojkovic, Narelle Hood, Steve Stones, Sheila Savage, Sarah-Jane Balharry, Erica Cooper and

Kirsten O’Callaghan. A special thank you must go to Pauline Jones, who unable to a;end at

Bunnings, sliced up 20 kg of onions all by herself- a mammoth task.

At assembly last Friday two of our students, Isabella and Paige announced that they were going

to be fundraising for the Royal Children’s Hospital, by making and selling Loom Bands. This

decision had come about from the informa'on that they had listened to at the previous

CELEBRATING OUR CHILDREN’S

ACHIEVEMENTS

Beau, Ethan, Rebekah, Samantha, Noel, Hayley

and Holly received their sports awards for Inter-

school Sport at assembly last Friday.

Angus received a gold

dollarmites cer'ficate

from the

Commonwealth Bank

for deposi'ng over 30

'mes into his account.

Skye, Meija, Aiden, Isis and Victor received their

Fitness Club awards at assembly last Friday.

A reminder that next Monday, August 25th

is our pupil free day where all staff will be involved in a number of ac'vi'es-

Stephen Fraser from the Accountability Sec'on of the DEECD will be presen'ng to the staff in the first session in rela'on to

the new school level reports which are provided to the school each year and the way in which schools can best use this

informa'on in planning for the future. We will then be reviewing our school values and mission statements before moving

into groups to start the crea'on of our new School Strategic Plan which will be in place from the end of this year un'l 2017.

When children return to school on the 26th

they will be involved in a Global Games Day as outlined in the newsle;er from

last week. Our presenter, Cathy Hope will introduce children to the playground games that children would have played in

our school ground over the years, but have now almost disappeared from their play – games like jacks, string games,

elas'cs, hoops, marbles and skipping will once again come to life and hopefully will rekindle children’s interests in

con'nuing to play these games beyond Cathy’s visit. Each classroom will have a game box which is being put together by

Michael W which will have all of the equipment the children need to play these games. We are planning to demonstrate

these games to our visitors on our Back to Seaford Day and hope that some might even join in.

One of our major fundraisers each year is our annual monster raffle which coincides with the Annual Concert on the last day

of term – this year being the 19th

September. We ask for your support in two ways- firstly asking for dona'ons to fill the

hampers and secondly in purchasing raffle 'ckets. Each hamper is based on a theme and each grade sets out to collect

things to go in one of the hampers along the chosen theme. A;ached to this newsle;er is a sheet outlining the themes and

the grades which have been allocated to each. If you could donate one item to your child’s grade hamper, that would be

greatly appreciated.

Regards

Michael
