‘Eye of the Tiger’

‘Eye of the Tiger’; Survivor :"Eye of the Tiger" is a song by American rock band Survivor. It was released in May 1982 as a single from their third album Eye of the Tiger. It was written at the request of actor Sylvester Stallone. The song was to be the theme song for the movie Rocky III, in which Stallone was playing the main role.

Similarities

As in ‘Hall of Fame’, the song has a sporting link, with its link to the ‘Rocky’ film. This link is arguably the reason for the songs inherited fame as it has become an iconic sound track to a lot of sporting events.

Similarities

Another similarity to ‘Hall of Fame’ is the message of the songs lyrics.

The ‘Hall of Fame’ lyrics can be interpreted to mean rising up to a challenge and striving to achieve glory with a ‘can do’ attitude. This being very similar qualities to the lyrical message of ‘Eye of the Tiger’, with these qualities displayed in the words of the song; “Risin’ up to the challenge”, and, “Had the guts, got the glory”.

Difference

A major difference between the two songs is the official ‘Eye of the Tiger’ video by Survivor, in which there are no actual displays of a sporting link, but instead a large focus on the members of the band.

Although in ‘Hall of Fame’ there are some parts of focus on the band, its main content is of the athletes in the video and their ‘battles’.
