We are very privileged to havethe opportunity to provide a high quality educational experience for our students. Mungret CommunityCollege is a vibrant school where we believe in providing a safe, happy and challenging environmentwhere students are active learners. We aim to provide an excellent standard of Teaching and Learning,where each student is respected for their own unique talents and aptitudes. We provide a broad range of subjects and many extra-curricular activities. Board of ManagementMungret Community College has a very dedicated Board of Management whohas worked tirelessly to ensure our school has all the necessary facilities in placeto provide a high quality education for our students.

In Mungret Community College we are focused on Academic Performance, ourteachers create very high expectations for all our students. We send home Fourterm reports, two of which are focused exclusively on Formative feedback (in linewith the new Junior Certificate). We will have two parent teacher meetings thisyear for our First Year Students. Our teachers are happy to meet with parents tohelp improve the learning for their child and to put strategies in place to supportthis learning. There is a Strong focus on learning through ICT, we use GoogleApps & Google Classroom among other technologies throughout the school.

Every student gets the opportunity to sample our optional subjects over a ten weekSampling Period, after this period students choose two optional subjects that theywill then study for their Junior Certificate.

Supporting the Student

Student Well-Being TeamIt is our priority in Mungret Community College to supportstudents so that they can flourish. The Student Well-Being team,led by the school principal, meets once a week to ensure thatstudent welfare and wellbeing is addressed. Each year group isassigned a Year Head and each class assigned a Class Tutor whomeet and liaise with all subject teachers. There is Assemblyevery morning to facilitate communication between ClassTutors/Year Head and our Students. All members ofmanagement and staff exercise a caring role towards ourstudents.

Leading Learning TeamOur Leading Learning Team meets weekly to develop our meth-ods of maximising learning throughout the school. This involvesdeveloping new initiatives and methodologies with the aim ofkeeping our practices modern, student centred and conduciveto achieving the best results for our students. This team will playan important role in implementing the New Junior CycleReforms and conducting School Self Evaluation (SSE) across thewhole school.

Additional Educational Needs TeamThe AEN Team work closely with Students, Parents/ Guardians,Primary Schools, Support Agencies and Subject Teachers to putthe necessary supports in place for students. Support is provid-ed to Individuals, Small Groups and by Team Teaching. Our aimis to enable all students to reach their full potential.

Guidance and CounsellingMungret Community College has a guidance counsellor who

provides a continuous system of support and counselling toguide students in making key decisions in areas such as subjectchoice, third level courses and career choice. The Guidancecounselling service is delivered through one-to-one personalinterviews and through classroom instruction.

Student Council We believe that the student voice can enhance our school andas a result we have a Student Council. Each class group electsrepresentatives to sit on this council. The council represents theviews of the students on matters of concern to the student bodyand provides our students with a forum to discuss thesematters with the school staff and management. Students aregiven the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and givea report on their activities to the Board of Management.

Specialised Induction Programmefor First Year StudentsOur induction process for first year students is designed to helpstudents to settle in and adapt to day to day life in the school.During this programme our First year pupils learn about theirnew school – how to organise themselves (use their locker andstudent journal), meet new people, work together in groupactivities, organise their homework…..just to mention a few.

The School Food CompanyWe have a Canteen Facility in the school which serves a mixtureof hot and cold healthy foods at a reasonable cost to ourstudents. Students are encouraged to bring their own healthylunches to school also.

Home School Links Every effort is made to maintain contact with and foster links with the student’s home through:• Student journal • Parent-Teacher meetings• Student academic reports • Parents’ council activities.
