DescriptionThe CODMAN® External Drainage Ventricular Catheter Set is designed to drain cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and other fluids of similar physical characteristics from the ventricles of the brain.The components of the CODMAN External Drainage Ventricular Catheter Set (catalog no. 82-1705) are packaged together in a sterile peel pouch and consist of a 35 cm (13.8 in.) radiopaque silicone ventricular catheter (1.5 mm I.D., 3.1 mm O.D.) that has reference marks 5 and 10 cm from its proximal (perforated) tip, a 36 cm straight stainless steel stylet for catheter placement, a curved stainless steel trocar with a barbed end for drawing the catheter subcutaneously, and a female LUER-LOK® connector and LUER-LOK cap that are installed on the distal end of the catheter in preparation for connection to monitoring equipment or fluid collection equipment.

Indications Use of the CODMAN External Drainage Ventricular Catheter Set is indicated for gaining access to the ventricles of the brain and can be used with other CODMAN devices for draining cerebrospinal fluid and other fluids of similar physical characteristics as a means of reducing increased intracranial volume and pressure.

Contraindications This device is not designed, sold or intended for use except as indicated.Use of this device is contraindicated if scalp infection is present.

It is contraindicated in patients receiving anticoagulants or who are known to have a bleeding diathesis.

Precautions Inspect the sterile package carefully. Do not use if:• the package or seal appears damaged,• contents appear damaged, or• the expiry date has passed.Aseptic technique is necessary in all phases of the use of this product.Exercise extreme care to prevent the ventricular catheter from coming in contact with towels, drapes, talc, or any linty or granular surfaces. Silicone rubber is highly electrostatic and, as a result, attracts airborne particles and surface contaminants that could produce tissue reaction.Silicone rubber has a low cut and tear resistance; therefore, care must be exercised when placing ligatures so as not to tie them too tightly. Furthermore, the use of stainless steel ligatures on silicone rubber is not recommended.To reduce the incidence of infection, it is recommended that care of the catheter exit site and the connection to the external drain be carried out in accordance with principles established for the care of long-term hyperalimentation catheters.

Sterility

This product is FOR SINGLE USE ONLY; DO NOT RESTERILIZE. Use aseptic technique in all phases of handling. Integra Single Use devices have not been designed to undergo or withstand any form of alteration, such as disassembly, cleaning or re-sterilization, after a single patient use. These devices are intended to come into contact with the central nervous system and the ability does not currently exist to destroy possible contaminates such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Reuse can also compromise device performance and any usage beyond the design intent of this single-use device can result in unpredictable use hazards or loss of functionality.

Instructions for Use Since the sites of insertion of the ventricular catheter vary, decisions regarding the technique of insertion and verification of proper placement must be made by the surgeon on a case by case basis.1. The operative site must be aseptically prepared and draped.2. Perform the catheterization with the stylet in place in the catheter; remove the stylet, check for free flow of fluid.3. Attach the distal end of the catheter to the barbed end of the trocar. Insert the sharp end of the trocar into the incision used for catheterization and tunnel subcutaneously for a short distance. See Figure 2.4. Bring the trocar out through the scalp. Taking care not to dislodge the intraventricular portion of the catheter, draw the catheter through the subcutaneous tunnel until the loop of the catheter no longer protrudes from the incision. See Figure 3. Occlude the catheter with shod forceps.5. Secure the catheter to the skin at the exit site. Suture the incision site. Cover the area with a sterile dressing.6. Suture the distal end of the catheter to the barbed end of the female LUER-LOK connector with LUER-LOK cap attached. Do not remove the LUER-LOK cap until you are ready to attach the catheter to monitoring equipment or fluid collection equipment.

IndicationsL’utilisation de l’ensemble de cathéter ventriculaire de drainage externe CODMAN est appropriée pour avoir accès aux ventricules du cerveau. Cet ensemble peut être utilisé avec d’autres appareils CODMAN pour drainer le liquide céphalo-rachidien et d’autres liquides aux caractéristiques physiques similaires. Il permet de réduire le volume et la pression intracrâniens en excédent.

Contre-indicationsCet appareil est conçu pour être vendu et utilisé uniquement comme indiqué.L’utilisation de cet appareil est contre-indiquée en cas d’infection du cuir chevelu.L’utilisation est contre-indiquée aussi chez les patients recevant un traitement d’anticoagulants ou qui ont des antécédents de diathèse avec perte de sang.

PrécautionsInspecter avec soin l’emballage stérile. Ne pas utiliser si :• l’emballage ou le système de fermeture

semble endommagé,• son contenu semble endommagé ou• la date de péremption est dépassée.La technique antiseptique est nécessaire pour toutes les phases d’utilisation de ce produit.

Il est fortement recommandé d’éviter que le cathéter ventriculaire entre en contact avec les serviettes, les champs stériles, le talc ou une surface en charpie ou granuleuse. Le caoutchouc en silicone est très électrostatique et provoque donc une attraction des particules aériennes et des contaminants de surface, qui pourraient provoquer une réaction des tissus.Le caoutchouc en silicone a une faible résistance aux coupures ou aux déchirures, donc, une attention est recommandée lors du placement des ligatures car il faut faire attention à ne pas les serrer trop fortement. En outre, l’utilisation de ligatures en acier inoxydable n’est pas recommandée pour du caoutchouc en silicone.Pour réduire le risque d’infection, il est recommandé que l’entretien du site de sortie du cathéter et du branchement au drainage externe soit fait selon les principes établis pour l’entretien des cathéters à hyper-alimentation à long-terme.

Stérilité

Ce produit est À USAGE UNIQUE SEULEMENT. NE PAS LE RESTÉRILISER. Utiliser une technique aseptique pendant toutes les phases de manipulation. Les dispositifs à usage unique de Integra n’ont pas été conçus pour subir ou supporter une forme quelconque d’altération, telle que le démontage, le nettoyage ou la restérilisation, après une utilisation sur un patient. Ils sont conçus pour entrer en contact avec le système nerveux central et il est actuellement impossible de détruire les agents contaminants possibles tels que la maladie de Creutzfeldt-Jakob. La réutilisation peut également compromettre les performances du dispositif et toute utilisation non conforme à l’usage prévu de ce dispositif à usage unique peut entraîner une perte de fonctionnalité ou des risques d’utilisation imprévisibles. InstructionsEtant donné que les sites d’insertion du cathéter ventriculaire varient, le chirurgien doit décider de la technique d’insertion et de la vérification du bon emplacement du cathéter selon chaque cas individuel.

1. Le site d’opération doit être aseptisé et recouvert de champs stériles.2. Effectuez la cathétérisation avec le stylet en place dans le cathéter ; enlevez le stylet, vérifiez que le liquide s’écoule sans entrave.3. Attachez l’extrémité distale du cathéter à l’hameçon du trocart. Insérez l’extrémité pointue du trocart dans l’incision utilisée pour la cathétérisation et faites un petit tunnel sous la peau. Voir Figure 2.4. Faites sortir le trocart à travers le cuir chevelu. En faisant attention à ne pas déloger la portion intra-ventriculaire du cathéter, tirez le cathéter à travers le tunnel sous-cutané jusqu’à ce que la boucle du cathéter ne sorte plus de l’incision. Voir Figure 3. Bloquez le cathéter avec les forceps à patin.5. Fixez le cathéter à la peau au site de sortie. Suturez le site d’incision. Couvrez l’endroit de pansements stériles.6. Suturez l’extrémité distale du cathéter à l’hameçon du connecteur LUER-LOK femelle avec le capuchon LUER-LOK attaché. N’enlevez pas le capuchon LUER-LOK à moins que vous ne soyez prêt à attacher le cathéter à l’équipement de contrôle ou à l’équipement de recueil.

Die Komponenten des CODMAN Externe-Drainage-Ventrikelkathetersatzes (Katalog-Nr. 82-1705) sind zusammen in einem sterilen Beutel verpackt und bestehen aus einem 35 cm langen kontrastfähigen Silikon-Ventrikelkatheter (1,5 mm Innendurchmesser, 3,1 mm Außendurchmesser) mit Messmar-kierungen in einem Abstand von 5 cm und 10 cm von seiner proximalen perforierten Spitze, einem 36 cm langen, geraden Mandrin aus chirurgischem Edelstahl zur Anbringung des Katheters, einem gebogenen Edelstahl-Trokar mit Schlaucholive zum subkutanen Durchziehen des Katheters, einer LUER-LOK®-Konnektorbuchse und einer LUER-LOK-Verschlusskappe, die beide am distalen Ende des Katheters in Vorbereitung für den Anschluss an Monitor- oder Flüssigkeitssammelgeräte angebracht sind.

Indikationen Der CODMAN Externe-Drainage-Ventrikelkathetersatz ermöglicht den Zugang zu den Ventrikeln des Gehirns und kann mit anderen CODMAN Produkten zur Drainage von Liquor oder anderen Flüssigkeiten mit ähnlichen physikalischen Eigenschaften zur Reduzierung eines erhöhten intrakraniellen Volumens und Druckes benutzt werden.Kontraindikationen Dieses Produkt ist nur für den angegebenen Zweck vorgesehen und zum Verkauf bestimmt.Die Verwendung dieses Produkts ist kontrain-diziert, wenn eine Kopfhautinfektion vorliegt.

Sie ist ferner kontraindiziert bei Patienten, die Antikoagulantien erhalten oder bei denen eine hämorrhagische Diathese festgestellt wurde.

VorsichtsmaßnahmenDie sterile Verpackung sorgfältig untersuchen. Das Produkt nicht verwenden, wenn:• die Verpackung oder der Verschluss

beschädigt zu sein scheint,• der Inhalt beschädigt ist oder• das Verfallsdatum abgelaufen ist.

Bei der Handhabung dieses Produkts stets aseptisch vorgehen.

Besonders sorgfältig darauf achten, dass der Ventrikelkatheter nicht mit Handtüchern, Abdecktüchern, Talkum oder faserigen oder aufgerauten Oberflächen in Kontakt kommt. Silikongummi ist äußerst elektrostatisch und zieht daher in der Luft befindliche Partikel und Verunreinigungen an, die Gewebereaktionen hervorrufen können.

Silikon hat einen geringen Schneide- und Reißwiderstand; daher muss bei der Anbringung von Ligaturen darauf geachtet werden, sie nicht zu fest anzuziehen. Es wird empfohlen, auf Silikongummi keine Ligaturen aus chirurgischem Edelstahl zu verwenden.

Um das Auftreten von Infektionen zu reduzieren, sollte die Pflege der Katheteraustrittsstelle und der Verbindung zum externen Katheter gemäß den für die Pflege langfristiger Hyperalimentations- katheter erstellten Richtlinien erfolgen.

Sterilität

Dieses Produkt ist NUR ZUM EINMALIGEN GEBRAUCH vorgesehen; NICHT RESTERILISIEREN. Bei der Handhabung stets aseptisch vorgehen. Integra Einmalprodukte sind nicht dafür ausgelegt, dass Änderungen in Form von Zerlegen, Reinigen oder Resterilisieren nach der einmaligen Anwendung vorgenommen werden dürfen. Diese Produkte kommen bestimmungsgemäß mit dem Zentralnervensystem in Kontakt. Zurzeit ist noch keine Möglichkeit bekannt, potentielle Kontamination wie z. B. Erreger der Creutzfeldt-Jakob-Erkrankung zu zerstören. Das Produkt nicht wiederverwenden, da hierdurch die Produktleistung beeinträchtigt werden könnte und jede Anwendung außerhalb der vorgesehenen Zweckbestimmung könnte zu unvorhersehbaren Risiken oder dem Verlust der Funktionalität führen.

Integra LifeSciences übernimmt keine Haftung für Produkte, die resterilisiert wurden; außerdem werden Produkte, die

geöffnet, jedoch nicht benutzt wurden, nicht zurückgenommen oder ausgetauscht.

Solange die individuelle Packung des CODMAN Externe-Drainage- Ventrikelkathetersatzes nicht geöffnet oder beschädigt ist, ist das Produkt steril.

Gebrauchsanweisung Da die Punktionsstellen für Ventrikelkatheter variieren, sollte der Chirurg über Techniken und Lokalisation der Inzision von Fall zu Fall entscheiden.

1. Die Operationsstelle muss aseptisch vorbereitet und abgedeckt werden.2. Die Katheterisierung erfolgt mit dem Mandrin an Ort und Stelle im Katheter; Mandrin entfernen und freien Flüssigkeitslauf überprüfen.3. Das distale Ende des Katheters an die Schlaucholive des Trokars anschließen. Das scharfe Ende des Trokars in den für die Katheterisierung benutzten Einschnitt einführen und kurz subkutan tunneln. Siehe Abbildung 2.4. Den Trokar durch die Kopfhaut ausführen. Den Kathether durch den subkutanen Tunnel ziehen, bis die Schlaufe des Katheters nicht mehr aus dem Einschnitt heraussteht. Dabei darauf achten, dass der intraventrikuläre Anteil des Katheters nicht verlagert wird. Siehe Abbildung 3. Den Katheter mit einer bezogenen Klemme verschließen.5. Den Katheter an der Austrittsstelle an der Haut befestigen. Die Einschnittstelle vernähen. Den Bereich mit einem sterilen Verband abdecken.6. Das distale Ende des Katheters mit dem gezapften Ende der LUER-LOK-Konnektor-buchse mit LUER-LOK-Verschlusskappe vernähen. Die LUER-LOK-Verschlusskappe erst entfernen, wenn der Katheter an das Monitor- oder Flüssigkeitssammelgerät angeschlossen wird.

BeschrijvingDe CODMAN® Externe drainage ventriculaire katheterkit is bestemd voor het afvoeren van liquor en andere vloeistoffen van gelijke aard uit de hersenventrikels.

De onderdelen van de CODMAN Externe drainage ventriculaire katheterkit (catalogusnr. 82-1705) zijn samen steriel verpakt in een peel open verpakking en omvatten een 35 cm radiopaak silicone ventriculaire katheter (1,5 mm binnendiameter, 3,1 mm buitendiameter) met referentiemarkeringen op 5 en 10 cm van het proximale (geperforeerde) uiteinde, een 36 cm recht stilet van roestvrij staal voor katheter plaatsing, een gebogen trocar van roestvrij staal met een haakje voor het subcutaan doorvoeren van de katheter en een vrouwelijke LUER-LOK®-connector en LUER-LOK-dop die op het distale uiteinde van de katheter worden gemonteerd voordat het geheel op de bewakingsapparatuur of de vloeistofopvangapparatuur aangesloten wordt.

Indicaties Het gebruik van de CODMAN Externe drainage ventriculaire katheterkit is geïndiceerd om toegang tot de hersen- ventrikels te verkrijgen en het kan met andere CODMAN Apparatuur gebruikt worden voor het afvloeien van liquor en andere vloeistoffen van gelijke aard als een methode voor het reduceren van het intracraniaal volume en de druk.

Contra-indicatiesDit product is ontworpen, wordt verkocht en is bestemd voor gebruik uitsluitend conform de indicatie.

Het gebruik van de katheter is gecontra-indiceerd indien er infectie van de scalp aanwezig is.

Het gebruik van dit product is gecontra-indiceerd bij patiënten die anti-coagulantia gebruiken of van wie bekend is dat ze een bloedende diathese hebben.

Gebruik de inhoud niet indien:• de verpakking of verzegeling

beschadigd lijkt,• de inhoud beschadigd lijkt,• de uiterste gebruikdatum verstreken is.

Altijd aseptische technieken gebruiken tijdens hantering en gebruik van dit product.

Wees uiterst voorzichtig en zorg dat de ventriculaire katheter niet in aanraking komt met doeken, afdeklakens, talkpoeder of enige andere pluizige of korrelige oppervlakken. Siliconenrubber is uiterst electrostatisch en trekt daardoor in de lucht zwevende deeltjes en oppervlaktevervuilers aand die een weefselreactie kunnen veroorzaken.

Omdat silicone gemakkelijk snijdt en scheurt, mogen de ligaturen niet te strak worden aangebracht. Het gebruik van ligaturen van roestvrij staal op siliconenrubber wordt niet aanbevolen.

Om het voorkomen van infectie te verminderen, wordt het aanbevolen dat de behandeling van het katheteruitgangspunt en de aansluiting op het externe drainagesysteem gemaakt worden in overeenstemming met de principes voor de behandeling van lange termijn hyperalimentatie katheters.

Steriliteit

Dit product is uitsluitend bestemd voor EENMALIG GEBRUIK; NIET OPNIEUW STERILISEREN. Altijd aseptische technieken gebruiken tijdens hantering en gebruik. Integra-instrumenten voor eenmalig gebruik zijn niet ontworpen voor of bestand tegen enige vorm van aanpassing, zoals demontage, reiniging of hersterilisatie, na eenmalig gebruik voor een patiënt. Deze instrumenten zijn bestemd voor contact met het centrale zenuwstelsel en op dit moment is het nog niet mogelijk om eventuele besmettingen zoals de ziekte van Creutzfeldt-Jakob te vernietigen. Hergebruik kan ook de werking van het instrument compromitteren en enig gebruik buiten het bedoelde ontwerp van dit

instrument voor eenmalig gebruik kan leiden tot onvoorspelbare gebruiksrisico’s of verlies van functionaliteit.

Integra LifeSciences aanvaardt geen enkele aansprakelijkheid voor opnieuw gesteriliseerde producten. Producten die geopend maar niet gebruikt zijn, worden niet gecrediteerd of omgeruild.

Zolang de eigen verpakking van de CODMAN Externe drainage ventriculaire katheterkit niet geopend of beschadigd is, is het product steriel.

GebruiksaanwijzingOmdat de plaatsen voor het inbrengen van de ventriculaire katheter verschillen, moeten beslissingen m.b.t. de inbrengtechniek en bevestiging van de juiste plaatsing door de chirurg van geval tot geval gemaakt worden.

1. De operatieve plaats moet aseptisch voorbereid en afgedekt worden.2. Voer de procedure voor de katheter- plaatsing uit met het stilet in plaats van de katheter, verwijder het stilet en verzeker dat een vrije flow van vloeistof aanwezig is.3. Bevestig het distale uiteinde van de katheter aan het uiteinde van de trocar met haakje. Breng het scherpe uiteinde van de trocar in de incisie voor de katheter en voer deze door onder de hoofdhuid voor een korte afstand vanaf de plaats waar de katheter ingebracht werd. Zie figuur 2.4. Breng de trocar uit via de scalp. Wees voorzichtig zodat het intraventriculaire deel van de katheter niet verplaatst wordt en trek de katheter door de subcutane tunnel totdat de lus van de katheter niet meer uit de incisieplaats steekt. Zie figuur 3. Sluit de katheter af met een bekleed pincet.

5. Bevestig de katheter op de huid bij het uitgangspunt. Hecht de incisieplaats. Bedek de plaats met een steriel verband.6. Bevestig het distale uiteinde van de katheter aan het uiteinde met haakje van de vrouwelijke LUER-LOK-connector en de LUER-LOK-dop en hecht deze vast. De LUER-LOK-dop niet verwijderen totdat men klaar is om de katheter aan een drainagezak of ICP bewakingsapparatuur te bevestigen.

DescrizioneIl set catetere ventricolare per drenaggio esterno CODMAN® serve per il drenaggio di liquido cerebrospinale (CSF) e di altri liquidi aventi simili caratteristiche fisiche dai ventricoli cerebrali.

I componenti del set catetere ventricolare per drenaggio esterno CODMAN (codice 82-1705) sono confezionati in una singola bustina sterile e comprendono un catetere ventricolare radiopaco in silicone da 35 cm, con D.I. 1,5 mm e D.E. 3,1 mm, che presenta marchi di riferimento a 5 e 10 cm dalla punta prossimale (perforata); un mandrino retto da 36 cm di lunghezza in acciaio inossidabile per l’inserimento del catetere; un trequarti curvo in acciaio inossidabile con estremità a punta per l’inserimento del catetere in via sottocutanea; un connettore LUER-LOK® femmina e relativo tappo, che vengono montati sull’estremità distale del catetere per predisporlo per il collegamento al dispositivo di monitoraggio od al sistema di raccolta del liquido.

IndicazioniIl set catetere ventricolare per drenaggio esterno CODMAN è indicato per accedere ai ventricoli cerebrali e può essere utilizzato in combinazione ad altri dispositivi CODMAN per il drenaggio di liquido cefalorachidiano e di altri liquidi aventi simili caratteristiche fisiche per la riduzione ed il controllo dell’aumento del volume e della pressione intracranici.

ControindicazioniIl prodotto non può essere venduto od utilizzato per usi diversi da quelli indicati, per i quali è stato espressamente studiato.

L’impiego del prodotto è controindicato in presenza di infezioni del cuoio capelluto.

Il prodotto è controindicato in pazienti trattati con anticoagulanti o affetti da diatesi emorragica.

PrecauzioniIspezionare attentamente la confezione sterile. Non usare se:• la confezione o il sigillo sembra

danneggiato,• il contenuto appare danneggiato oppure• la data di scadenza è stata superata.

In tutte le fasi d’impiego del prodotto è necessario adottare una tecnica sterile.

Prestare la massima attenzione per impedire che il catetere ventricolare venga a contatto con asciugamani, teli, talco o materiali filacciosi o granulosi. La gomma siliconica è altamente elettrostatica, per cui attrae le particelle presenti nell’aria ed i contaminanti superficiali, con conseguenti possibili reazioni a livello dei tessuti.

La gomma siliconica presenta una bassa resistenza al taglio ed allo strappo, per cui occorre prestare attenzione nell’eseguire legature e non stringere troppo. Coi prodotti in silicone è sconsigliato l’uso di legature in acciaio inossidabile.

Per ridurre l’incidenza d’infezioni, si raccomanda di trattare il punto d’uscita del catetere ed il collegamento al drenaggio esterno con le opportune precauzioni che si usano con le cateteri per iperalimentazione a lungo termine.

Sterilità

Questo prodotto è MONOUSO E NON DEV’ESSERE RISTERILIZZATO. Seguire una tecnica sterile in tutte le fasi di manipolazione. I dispositivi monouso Integra non sono

stati progettati per essere sottoposti o sostenere alcuna forma di alterazione, quale disassemblaggio, pulizia o risterilizzazione, dopo l’utilizzo su un paziente. Questi dispositivi sono previsti per venire a contatto con il sistema nervoso centrale e attualmente non esiste la possibilità di distruggere i possibili contaminati come la malattia di Creutzfeldt-Jakob. Il riutilizzo può compromettere anche le prestazioni del dispositivo e qualsiasi uso oltre lo scopo previsto per questo dispositivo monouso può causare pericoli di uso imprevedibili o la perdita di funzionalità.

Istruzioni per l’usoStante la molteplicità dei punti d’inserimento del catetere ventricolare, la decisione relativa alla tecnica d’inserimento ed alla verifica del corretto inserimento è di competenza del chirurgo caso per caso.

1. Preparare asetticamente e ricoprire con teli sterili il punto operativo. 2. Eseguire il cateterismo col mandrino nel catetere; togliere il mandrino, verificando che il liquido defluisca regolarmente.3. Collegare l’estremità distale del catetere all’estremità a punta del trequarti. Inserire l’estremità a punta del trequarti nell’incisione praticata per il cateterismo e canalizzare per via sottocutanea per un breve tratto. Vedere Figura 2.4. Far uscire il trequarti dal cuoio capelluto. Facendo attenzione a non spostare la porzione intraventricolare del catetere, introdurre

quest’ultimo nel canale sottocutaneo fino a scomparsa dell’ansa. Vedere Figura 3. Occludere il catetere mediante pinza con inserto. 5. Fissare il catetere alla cute nel punto d’uscita. Suturare il punto d’incisione. Coprire la zona con una medicazione sterile. 6. Fissare l’estremità distale del catetere all’estremità a punta del connettore LUER-LOK femmina con relativo tappo attaccato. Togliere il tappo LUER-LOK soltanto un attimo prima di collegare il catetere al dispositivo di monitoraggio od al sistema di raccolta del liquido.

Los componentes del juego de catéter ventricular para drenaje externo CODMAN (código 82-1705) están envasados juntos en una bolsa autosellable estéril e incluyen un catéter ventricular (DI = 1,5 mm, DE = 3,1 mm) de silicona radiopaca de 35 cm de largo que tiene marcas de referencia a 5 y 10 cm de su extremo proximal (perforado), un estilete recto de 36 cm de acero inoxidable para introducir el catéter, un trócar curvo en acero inoxidable con un extremo con aristas para pasar el catéter subcutáneamente y un conector LUER-LOK® hembra con su tapa respectiva que están colocados en el extremo distal del catéter lista para su conexión al equipo de monitorización o equipo de recogida de fluidos.

ContraindicacionesEste dispositivo no está diseñado, comer-cializado ni proyectado para otros usos que no sean los aquí indicados.

El uso de este dispositivo está contraindicado si existe infección en el cuero cabelludo.

Está contraindicado en pacientes que estén recibiendo tratamiento con anticoagulantes o en los cuales se conoce presentan una diátesis hemorrágica.

PrecaucionesInspeccione el envase estéril cuidadosamente. No utilice el producto si:• el envase o el sello parecen dañados,• el contenido parece dañado, o• ha transcurrido la fecha de caducidad.

El uso de una técnica aséptica es necesaria en todas las fases de utilización de este producto.

Tenga máximo cuidado para evitar que el catéter ventricular entre en contacto con toallas, paños, talco o cualquier superficie fibrosa o granular. La goma de silicona es altamente electrostática y, como resultado, atrae partículas contaminantes presentes en el aire o sobre las superficies las cuales pueden producir reacciones tisulares.

Debido a que la goma de silicona tiene una baja resistencia al desgarre y corte, debe tenerse cuidado al colocar las ligaduras para que éstas no queden muy ajustadas. Asimismo, no es recomendable el uso de ligaduras de acero inoxidable sobre la goma de silicona.

Para reducir la incidencia de infección, se recomienda cuidar el punto de salida del catéter y la conexión al drenaje externo según los principios establecidos para el cuidado de los catéteres para hiperalimentación a largo plazo.

Esterilidad

Este producto es PARA UN SOLO USO; NO REESTERILIZAR. Use una técnica aséptica en todas las fases de manipulación.

Los dispositivos para un solo uso de Integra no se han diseñado para someterse ni soportar ninguna forma de alteración como desmontaje, limpieza o reesterilización después de su uso en un solo paciente. Estos dispositivos están diseñados para entrar en contacto con el sistema nervioso central y actualmente no es posible destruir posibles contaminantes como los que producen la enfermedad de Creutzfeldt-Jakob. La reutilización de este dispositivo para un solo uso también puede comprometer su buen funcionamiento y cualquier uso diferente de los indicados puede resultar en riesgos de uso impredecibles o en la pérdida de funcionalidad. Integra LifeSciences no se hará responsable de ningún producto que sea reesterilizado, ni aceptará la devolución o el recambio de ningún producto que haya sido abierto, aunque no se haya usado. Instrucciones de usoYa que el punto de inserción del catéter ventricular es variable, las decisiones concernientes a la técnica de inserción y la verificación de la colocación adecuada deben ser tomadas por el propio cirujano de forma individual y caso por caso.1. El punto operatorio debe ser preparado y cubierto asépticamente.2. Realice la cateterización con el estilete colocado en el catéter; retire el estilete y verifique la libre salida del fluido.3. Una el extremo distal del catéter al extremo con aristas del trócar. Introduzca el extremo afilado del trócar en la incisión usada para la cateterización y canalice subcutáneamente por una pequeña extensión. Ver la Figura 2.

4. Saque el trócar a través del cuero cabelludo. Teniendo cuidado para no desalojar la porción intraventricular del catéter, haga avanzar el catéter a través del tunel subcutáneo hasta que la curva del mismo ya no sobresalga de la incisión. Ver la Figura 3. Proceda a ocluir el catéter con fórceps recubiertos de goma.5. Asegure el catéter a la piel en el punto de salida. Suture el punto de incisión. Cubra el área con un apósito estéril.6. Suture el extremo distal del catéter al extremo con aristas del conector LUER-LOK hembra con su respectiva tapa en posición. No quite la tapa LUER-LOK hasta que no esté listo para unir el catéter al equipo de monitorización o al equipo de recogida de fluidos.

O cateter tem marcas de referência a 5 e a 10 cm da extremidade (perfurada) proximal, um estilete recto de 36 cm em aço inoxidável para colocação do cateter, um trócar curvo em aço inoxidável com extremidade farpada para puxar o cateter subcutaneamente, um conector LUER-LOK® fêmea e uma tampa LUER-LOK que são instalados na extremidade distal do cateter em preparação para ligação ao equipamento de monitorização ou ao equipamento de recolha de fluido.

Está contra-indicado quando o doente estiver a receber anti-coagulantes ou quando se saiba sofrer de diátese hemorrágica.

Precauções Inspeccione cuidadosamente a embalagem esterilizada. Não utilize caso:

• a embalagem ou a selagem estejam danificadas,

• os componentes pareçam estar danificados ou

• o prazo de validade tenha expirado.

Em todas as fases de uso deste produto são necessárias técnicas de assépsia.

Deve-se ter extremo cuidado para evitar que o cateter de silicone entre em contacto com toalhas, campos cirúrgicos, talco ou quaisquer superfícies fibrosas ou granulosas. A borracha de silicone é altamente electrostática e, como resultado, atrai partículas no ar e contaminantes de superfície que podem causar reacção dos tecidos.

A borracha de silicone oferece fraca resistência a cortes e a desgaste; coloque ligaduras com cautela para não cortar ou obstruir os tubos. Não se recomenda o uso de ligaduras de aço inoxidável em produtos de silicone.

Para reduzir a incidência de infecção, recomenda-se que os cuidados com a saída do cateter e com a ligação ao dreno externo sejam levados a cabo de acordo com os princípios estabelecidos para os cuidados de cateteres de hiperalimentação de longo prazo.

Esterilização

Este produto é para USAR SÓ UMA VEZ; NÃO REESTERILIZE. Use técnicas de assépsia em todas as fases de manuseamento. Os dispositivos de utilização única da Integra não foram concebidos para serem submetidos ou sofrerem qualquer tipo de alteração como, por exemplo desmontagem, limpeza ou reesterilização, após utilização num único paciente. Estes dispositivos destinam-se a entrar em contacto com o sistema nervoso central e actualmente não existe capacidade de destruir eventuais infecções como, por exemplo, a doença de Creutzfeldt-Jakob. A reutilização também pode comprometer o desempenho do dispositivo e qualquer utilização para além daquela a que se destina este dispositivo de utilização única pode dar origem a riscos de utilização inesperados ou perda de funções.

Desde que a embalagem individual do Conjunto do Cateter Ventricular para Drenagem Externa CODMAN não tenha sido aberta nem esteja danificada, o produto está esterilizado.

Instruções de Utilização Dado que os locais de inserção do cateter ventricular variam, as decisões respeitantes à técnica de inserção e verificação da colocação correcta devem ser tomadas caso a caso pelo cirurgião.

1. Assepticamente, prepare e cubra a área da operação.

2. Faça o cateterismo com o estilete no cateter; retire o estilete, verifique o fluxo livre de fluido.

3. Prenda a extremidade distal do cateter à extremidade farpada do trócar. Insira a extremidade aguçada do trócar na incisão usada para a cateterização e faça uma passagem subcutânea curta. Veja Figura 2.

4. Faça passar o trócar através do couro cabeludo. Com cuidado para não deslocar a porção ventricular do cateter, faça avançar o cateter através da passagem subcutânea até a saliência do laço do cateter já não se notar na incisão. Veja Figura 3. Feche o cateter com fórceps revestidos.

5. Prenda o cateter à pele no ponto de saída. Suture o local da incisão. Cubra a área com um penso esterilizado.

6. Suture a extremidade distal do cateter à extremidade farpada do conector LUER-LOK fêmea com a tampa LUER-LOK posta. Não tire a tampa LUER-LOK até ligar o cateter ao equipamento de monitorização ou de recolha de fluido.
