1 Introduction to Hardware Ports and Alarm Cables

1.1 Monitoring Ports on the BBU

The UPEU on the BBU has two Boolean input ports, as shown in the following figure:

Boolean input ports on the UPEU in the upper part of the BBU: − EXT-ALM0: port for Boolean inputs 0 to 3 − EXT-ALM1: port for Boolean inputs 4 to 7 The BBU supports a maximum of 16 Boolean inputs. Each UPEU supports eight Boolean inputs. The BBU is configured with one UPEU in the lower part by default.

2 Setting the Boolean Alarm of the BBU

2.1 Setting the Boolean Alarm of the BBU on the BSC6900

Step 1: As shown in figure 1, set the alarm name, alarm level, and the gateway categories on the MML. The command used on the MML is SET ENVALMPARA. The alarm ID here is the alarm ID of the port to be set.

Figure 1

Step 2: In the MML input serial port, type the SET BTSENVALMPORT command to set the high and low voltage levels of the dry contacts on the UPEU.

Figure 2

Note: For the current BTS in the BSC6900, the numbers of the ports on the PEU in both upper and lower parts of the PEU are in range of 0 to 7.

Step 3: Use the MML command (LST BTSENVALMPORT) to check whether the numbers of the ports where dry contacts are set and the alarm levels are correctly set.
