Dedication

We dedicate this yearbook to the future of the Extension Association and those that will make it happen!

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you de-sire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to? Be thankful when you don’t know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn. Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you op-portunities for improvement. Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character. Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Extension Association of New Mexico Logo

The Logo of the Extension Association of New Mexico features an Indian oven (horno) inside the Zia sun symbol. The adobe oven and flame symbolize the home and the nurtur-ing of family life. The earth beneath the oven is symbolic of the relationship between the family and the outside world. The sky symbolizes peace, hope and love. The Zia symbol has traditionally been a symbol of friendship among the different cultures in New Mexico. As the only orna-ment on the State Flag. It is easily recognizable as belonging to New Mexico. The Extension Association of New Mexico and Cooperative Ex-tension Service of New Mexico State University have a rela-tionship of mutual respect and support that is based on the un-derstanding that the Extension Association of New Mexico and the Cooperative Extension Service will extend research based educational information to the people of New Mexico. The two entities are supported through the land grant system, New Mexico State University and the United States Department of Agriculture and respective counties. The logo was designed by Jerry Downs, graphic artist at New Mexico State University. It was adopted as the official logo of the organization on June 17, 1986. It may not be used for any commercial purpose without written consent of the Extension Association of New Mexico.
