    Introduction

An Approach to Reading This Book

This book is for the purpose of personal meditation and devotion. It can also be used as

a personal Bible study or for a small group Bible study. It is suggested that you read the

soul searching inventory question first so that you can keep this question in mind as you

read the scripture verses and poem for the day. It is also recommended to read this

book immediately after your morning prayers, the first part of your day, and before

doing anything else. It will take approximately 20 minutes or more to read the Bible

verses and poem for each day.

The soul searching inventory questions may be answered for you while you are reading

but it doesnt stop there. One should continue to ponder the question throughout the

day and ask God to reveal a deeper understanding to this question as it pertains to ones

personal walk with Christ. As you have prayed, expect God to give you an answer. Hewill if you believe He will, through the preached word, through a situation or

conversation and through the study of Gods word. Once an idea or thought comes to

you jot down a brief summary of what God has revealed to you. The last ten minutes of

your day reread the notes youve jotted down and pray before going to sleep. In total

you will have devoted about 30-40 minutes a day in Bible Study even though your day

may have been packed full of other things to do. This kind of study helps us in our

Christian walk for we can apply what God reveals to us. You may also want to share

your thoughts and ideas with a close friend or relative or in a small Bible study group to

further expand your understanding of the scriptures.

It is never very beneficial to just go through the motions of reading the Bible daily

without searching for understanding, but when we search for understanding and ways

to apply what we read, God opens up the spiritual realm into our hearts as we read with

a positive mind in faith. We must examine ourselves each day as we read and look for

ways to gain the most positive results from our personal study. In this book my goal is to

help you to accomplish this if you never have before and to support you if you already

have a solid habit of studying scriptures.

It is amazing that one can study the scripture for a lifetime and never exhaust another

way of perceiving it. It is only because the Bible is the mind of God, who is infinite and

everlasting that we can enjoy a lifetime of rereading the same books in the Bible each

and every day for a lifetime. My prayer is that God richly bless you the reader as you

continue your lifelong habit of daily Bible reading.

    Day 1 Read: Psalm 119:161-168, Matthew 5:43-48, 6:9-15, 18:21-35,Mark 11:25-26, Luke 6:27-38,

    Offenses

Great peace have they which love thy law; and nothing shall offend them. Psalm

    119:165

In this world, there are so many things which offend.

    Our enemies offend us.

They look for ways to destroy us with our talents, our accomplishments and even

    our lives.

Our friends and family, who sometimes unknowingly, hurt us deeply,

Without ever realizing our pain, may offend us.

Or sometimes, those closest to us may turn on us knowing what can hurt us the

    most,

While we offend them as well.

As offenses rise, un-forgiveness becomes a temptation as well.

This can destroy both the offender and the offended.

One can never be forgiven without forgiveness in their heart.

God is the one who will give a just recompense.

What can deliver us from this decay?

    THE WORD OF GOD!

As we meditate on Gods word with love and fear,

As we meditate on Gods word with awe and reverence,

As we meditate on Gods word to embrace it,

    It builds us up.

When were hiding in the word, offenses pass over us.

When were embracing the word, Gods word will shield us.

When we gain understanding of His word God fills us,

With the wisdom to live the life of holiness.

He grants to us joy and peace to strengthen us,

So that nothing can offend us.

Offenses will come but we cannot receive them

    Into our hearts,

So that nothing shall offend us.

    Nothing shall offend us,

For the Lord will fight our battles.

    Nothing shall offend us,

For our sorrows will turn to joy.

    Nothing shall offend us,

For in love we shall forgive.

    Nothing shall offend us,

For in Christ we love and live.

    Day 2 Read: Psalm 103, Romans 3, Titus 2

    Sober Mindedness Part 1

In the word of God we are all admonished to be sober minded,

Both Old men and young men,

    Aged women and young women.

The Battle we fight is a serious issue,

    And a spiritual one,

Our adversary being the devil who fights dirty.

Some synonyms for the word sober are:

Solemn, serious, grave, realistic, and prudent.

To be sober is the opposite of being drunk, excessive or frivolous,

    And takes commitment and faith.

The need to be sober minded has never been greater for us as Christians.

We live in a society where so many things can distract us and allure us into worldly

    habits.

The Lust of the flesh and the pride of life are all the things we must resist,

But can only resist if we are sober minded enough to see how the world affects us.

We must watch and pray and use what we see as a reminder to us of the

    seriousness of life,

For life as we know is short.

It is very sobering to know that so many of us have died from the day we first

    believed.

As the years go by everything has changed.

When we see our peers who are even a little younger than us die

And those who weve spoken to only a week or month ago are gone.

It can shake one to realize that one day all our plans, our aspirations will

    disappear,

When we take our last breath.

When we worship the Lord and see youth amongst the saints

Who are now no longer children,

And see them as adults, who are now middle aged,

When one notices that these middle aged saints are now so much younger than

    us,

That were old enough to be their mother,

    It is sobering.

It is sobering to realize how quickly life moves on,

And that each of us is closer to our death day than the day before.

    It is very sobering.

Soul Searching Inventory: In what ways can sober-mindedness help you with

    success as a Christian?

    Sober Mindedness Part 2

One has to take life seriously,

To be able to control ourselves and get a handle on life,

To be able to make the most out of life,

To succeed in living a life that will please God,

    And to be rapture ready,

For we know Christs return will be as fast as the twinkling of an eye.

Let the older women be sober minded ."

    Sober minded

Sober minded enough to pass on the things of Christ,

Sober minded enough to realize the seriousness of the charge the Lord has given

    to us.

Be real, not flighty, not intoxicated with wine or the things of this world,

Not preoccupied with fashions, money or other things of this world,

But be preoccupied with our purpose in life of what God has placed us here for:

    To love our families,

    Our husbands,

And to raise our children up to be a people that will love the Lord.

    Be sober and vigilant.

Know, watch and be aware of the spiritual warfare we are in.

We must know we are as perishable as the dust; we are dust,

    And must always trust

    The Lord.

We must know the Lord is always standing by us

    And be not deceived

    To believe in a lie

    And the father of lies.

Let us not let the fragrance of this world allure us

Into the snares of this world.

It is not easy and we never seem to be as sober as we should be,

But remember we are told to do so.

    Be level headed,

See reality for what it is.

    Dont assume anything,

But look through the eyes of Christ,

    The word of God.

Let us be sober enough to be humble enough,

That the Lord gets the glory out of our lives.

    Brokenness

    From heart to hand,

    From belly to heart,

    The pain moves within me.

I will stay on my knees

    Until my pain is relieved

For a contrite and broken heart,

    God never despises.

He heals us in our brokenness.

I never could believe one could hurt me so,

And if I dont let go

    I will die inside.

    I will let go,

So the Lord will love me so,

That he will heal my brokenness.

Before the sun arises, I cry unto the Lord.

My heart is like a broken vessel,

Fragmented into sharp pieces yearning to be fixed.

    Heal my heart Oh Lord;

Let not offenses destroy my zeal in you.

I love to love you therefore I will cease to doubt and put my trust in you.

As David has said in the book of Psalms,

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.(Psalm 71:1)

Let my mind be at peace despite the turbulence surrounding me.

Let my heart look up to the one who has redeemed me.

Let my soul turn around to the God of Abraham,

As the Lord heals me in my brokenness.

    Only the broken need mending.

Only when were desperate do we learn just what trust in God really is.

Only when were sick can we know God as a healer.

Only when we face the impossible do we discover that in God all things ARE

    POSSIBLE.

We rejoice just as the women at the sepulcher rejoiced with great joy.

They discovered that Jesus rose from the dead,

And the saints of today have discovered that he is alive forevermore,

As we rejoice with great joy in the Holy Ghost.

We rejoice with great joy for salvation is ours.

We rejoice with great joy for God miracles have visited us to heal us,

    Protect us and deliver us.

His miracles which transform us are ever working in us.

We rejoice for Gods great Faithfulness,

In which we can ever trust.

Our joy shall remain full in us, if we abide in Christ.

Our joy shall remain full in us if we obey Gods commandments of love.

It is love that makes our joy fulfilled.

For God is love. (1 John 4:8)

We have joy in the confidence of knowing he will never fail us.

We have joy to give our testimonies and rejoice for what he does.

We have joy to serve him faithfully and fulfill our callings with love.

We have joy to know His love for us as he died upon the cross,

So that we dont have to go to Hell and forever to be lost.

    Prayer

Prayer is only effective in the discipline of doing it.

As we pray, let us give God all the glory each and every day.

Let us talk to the Lord in earnest even in the evening hours.

Let us invite His Holy Spirit with all His comfort and power,

Confess to Him our sins and faults.

Praise Him for His excellent greatness!

Proclaim to Him our love and faith,

And thank Him for His great faithfulness.

Acknowledge Him and how Hes blessed us.

Let us listen to God with our spirit in rest.

    Victory

    The victory belongs to us;

Yet we must claim what we already have from the Lord.

It belongs to each child of God and abundant life as a spring of living waters is ours,

For we have Victory in Jesus Christ.

It is the kind of victory that rejoices always and loves forever.

It is the kind of victory that will not lose this war, the war waged by Satan,

Because Christ won it for us.

    We win in Him.

Every yoke of the enemy is broken and our flesh can hardly stand it.

We scream, jump, and jerk in the spirit.

The joy is just so much and too much to even comprehend,

    But we love Jesus.

It is a heavenly joy, a heavenly peace.

Satan tries to rob us from our new found victory,

    But Satan must retreat,

For the power of our praise is just too much for him.

He has been defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ,

    (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

In God there is no waste but a purpose for everything in Heaven and Earth.

There is a reason, a design and a use for everything.

Gods purpose perfectly fulfills His will.

It will always be a path that pleases Him and satisfies His desire.

His designed purpose for us accomplishes His will through us.

Gods purpose and Gods will are inseparable.

Our purpose is in Gods design for us.

Our purpose identifies us in Christ as the servants we were meant to be.

Before we ever came out of our Mothers womb,

God had already designed a purpose for our lives.

    His Purpose His Will

Not our desire or our will

We dont really know ourselves as God knows us

    And do not know the length of our days;

But God knows all of this.

He has molded us and sustained our lives according to His Purpose.

    Life is never easy

And often times a bitter cup to drink.

    In it lie many mysteries,

As Gods transforming power reshapes us for His purpose.

There is a time and there is a season for every purpose.

There is a time and there is a season for you and me

To be the people of the Lord that God has ordained us to be.

    We must exercise our purpose in prayer;

    We must exercise our purpose in praise;

We must exercise our purpose in serving the Lord.

    Faith (Part1)

Unto every man is given the measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)

Its what we do with our faith that determines what will become of it.

Will Jesus say to us, Oh ye of little faith?

To be so little it would be smaller than a mustard seed,

For with faith the size of even a mustard seed one can move mountains. (Matthew

    17:20)

    What is faith?

Faith is even more than just believing.

Devils believe and tremble yet they do not obey God.

It is written in the word that Faith is the substance of things hoped for,

The evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

It exists through the hope and trust we put in God.

It is sustained by the works we do to please God,

For faith without works is dead.

It is fulfilled through our confidence in walking with God.

Faith is a foundation Christians must embrace

Without embracing faith, we can never grow.

    Faith (Part 2)

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

    (Hebrews 11:1),

The substance of things hoped for,

The substance you can hold on to,

The substance which will uphold you.

It is the substance which validates our existence as children of God,

For while we exercise faith, we are using the hope within us,

Trusting in God for all things He has promised,

    For all things needed,

For all things God desires to fulfill.

Faith is that spiritual tool that activates the child of God to do the will of God,

    The Everlasting Father

He is called the everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace.

He is a Wonderful Counselor and a mighty God.

He was born as the son of God.

    HE IS JESUS

He will reign upon the throne of David with judgment & justice,

As the Lord of lords and the King of kings.

Of His government there shall be no end,

For corruption will have its final end.

Jesus the Messiah will return to set up a kingdom in the New Jerusalem.

This earthly kingdom is being prepared,

As the Church, Christs bride is also being prepared.

There will be no end to our everlasting Father,

And there will be no end to the Children of God who worship in truth.

It will be an everlasting Kingdom with the prevailing power of God.

Peace will be complete and His rest shall be glorious.

It is the type of freedom that sets us free

Sinfulness trapped us into jealousy malice and deceit.

It traps us into all the works of the flesh,

    And the death of the soul;

Separating us from the God that loves us,

And binding us into Satans snares.

Jesus gave us freedom when he sacrificed Himself on the cross,

Suffering excruciating death for the sins of the lost.

He took on martyrdom so that He could set us free.

From the foundation of the World,

The Lamb, Jesus Christ was slain.

    He was sacrificed for the sins of the World;

Evil being the root of the world.

    The world needed a savior,

And now the world has a savior,

But the World in its sinfulness has not received the Lord.

Instead only a few have come out of the World to receive Christs full salvation.

Many are called but few are chosen (Matthew22:14)

    The Many Sides of God

In life there is always another side of God to experience,

That God himself wants to reveal to us whether we are young or old.

An aspect a facet becomes clear to us as we live our lives each day.

When we are young the world seems so big and so new.

The world is fascinating with so much to see and many things to do.

When we are young we cant wait to be adults, so we can do whatever we want to

    do.

We do not realize one never does arrive to the point we can do whatever we want.

Godsplans for us are not what we think they are.

And trusts in Him through the love they receive from family.

As children we take what we are taught as being truth regardless of whether its

It is with childlike faith that we enter into the Kingdom of God.

As we get older and times get harder, the problems we face reveal to us another

He will be what we need Him to be,

If we let Him be just that,

To the sick, Hell be a healer.

To the lost, Hell be a guide.

In disobedience he chastened us as a father only would

And yet in our contrite brokenness he always will forgive.

In those areas of our lives which only God could understand,

When the early Church continued the work of Jesus,

It is written that they continued in the Apostles doctrine,

And now today we have so many Christian religions,

That its difficult, ifyoure searching, to know what truth is and what falsehood is.

    We must ask ourselves:

What was the legacy that the Apostles left us?

Are there remains of their teachings?

They continued from house to house in the breaking of bread and in fellowship.

They received the gift of the Holy Ghost by the sign of speaking out in other

    tongues,

As the spirit of God gives utterance.

The first three thousand souls added to the church were baptized, in name of the

    Lord Jesus Christ,

And they continued to add to the Church such as should be saved.

The miracles of God were performed in healings and deliverance,

And a standard of righteousness and the fear of God were exercised.

A zeal for God was powerful then,

And even the persecution of death and cruelties could not stop the spread of
