DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
Countries that require export certification:

INFORMATION REQUIRED
Information required to ship your clients yacht, depending on the method of transport you choose:
Port of Departure Port of Destination BOA – Beam overall LOA – Length overall, inclusive of platforms and all protrusions, trailers or
cradles Height – Inclusive of cradles or trailers Mast height Weight Draft Make & Model HIN # Yacht name
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
There are several methods available in today’s logistics arena.
Flo/Flo (Float On Float Off)
Lo/Lo (Lift On Lift Off)
Ro/Ro (Roll On Roll Off)
Flat Rack (standard container ship)
Sail away (Captain & Crew)
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
FLOAT ON FLOAT OFF CARRIERS
• Dockwise Yacht TransportThis carrier has a fleet of semi-submersible vessels that can take yachts up to 146 meters.
Once the vessel is semi-submerged your vessel floats on and divers begin the fastening process. Once the deck is dry the yachts are secured for transport.
BOA – Beam overall LOA – length overall, inclusive of platforms and all protrusions Weight Draft Make & Model HIN# or yacht name
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
LIFT ON LIFT OFF CARRIERS
• Dockwise Yacht Transport/ BBC Logistics & Chartering• Yachtpath International• Sevenstar Yacht Transport
These carriers have the capability of lifting your yacht on board their vessels with specialized strapping and cranes.
Slings or straps are securely fastened around the yacht. The yacht is checked for proper weight distribution and is then lifted on board the carrier and secured with a cradle. The maximum size of a yacht these carriers can take varies but is usually between 45-55 meters.
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
LIFT ON LIFT OFF CARRIERS (CONTINUED)
Height and Weight of the yacht plays a factor in the maximum meters that can be accepted. Basic information that will be needed to ship your yacht:
BOA – Beam overall LOA – length overall, inclusive of platforms and all protrusions Weight Height – inclusive of masts or towers Draft Type (M/Y-S/Y) Make & Model HIN# or yacht name
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
ROLL ON ROLL OFF CARRIERS
• Wallenius Wilhelmsen• Heogh Autoliners• Mitsui• K-Line
These carriers have the capability to “roll” your yacht on board their vessels. Whether it is on a cradle or a trailer.
These carriers also have height restrictions, while it varies by carrier, generally anything over 14’ must be removed.
Basic information that will be needed to ship your yacht:
1. Dimensions – length x width x height. All dimensions must include the trailer or cradle or any masts that may be along side
2. Weight
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
FLAT RACK CARRIERS
• APL• Evergreen• Maersk • OOCL• CMA-CGM • MSC
These carriers have the capability to ship your yacht loaded onto flat racks, on the deck of their cargo ships.
This seems to be the least popular method, but the most cost effective.
The yachts can be loaded onto cradles and then loaded onto the flat racks that are then loaded by crane onto the vessel.
The yacht can then be either “splashed-down”, off loaded directly into the water or offloaded onto the dock for road transport.
METHODS OF TRANSPORT
FLAT RACK CARRIERS (CONTINUED)
Basic information that will be needed to ship your yacht:
1. Dimensions – length x width x height.
a. All dimensions must include the cradle
b. Masts must be removed and shipped separately
2. Weight
SAIL AWAY

CE MARKING
The CE marking (an acronym for the French "Conformite Europeenne") certifies that a product has met EU health, safety, and environmental requirements, which ensure consumer safety. Manufacturers in the European Union (EU) and abroad must meet CE marking requirements where applicable in order to market their products in Europe. For a list of countries that require the CE marking, see: CE Marking Countries. A manufacturer who has gone through the conformity assessment process, may affix the CE marking to the product. With the CE marking, the product may be marketed throughout the EU. CE marking now provides product access to 27 countries with a population of nearly 500 million.

CE MARKING
Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive list of the products that require a CE marking. Therefore, it is the manufacturer's responsibility to determine if a product requires a CE marking. The "New Approach Directives" are documents that contain the legislation issued by the European Commission on the requirements that need to be met and procedures that must be followed in order for a particular product to be CE marked for sales in the EU.
COUNTRIES THAT REQUIRE CE MARKING
Austria Hungary PolandBelgium Iceland PortugalBulgaria Ireland RomaniaCyprus Italy SlovakiaCzech Republic Latvia SloveniaDenmark Liechtenstein SpainEstonia Lithuania SwedenFinland Luxembourg SwitzerlandFrance Malta TurkeyGermany Netherlands United KingdomGreece Norway

CE MARKING – CONSULTANTS/ORDERING STANDARDS
In the slides to follow are some sources for ordering standards and for locating CE marking consultancy services.
A firm with an "*" indicates that in addition to providing standards, it can also help clients obtain the CE marking and it has affiliations with EU competent body labs and/or EU notified bodies.
