DESTINATION INFORMATION Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s liveliest and most sophisticated resort destinations. The grand Bay of Banderas, one of

the largest bays in Mexico offers beautiful beaches with the lush green Sierra Madre Mountains in the background.

Puerto Vallarta offers excellent options for dining, nightlife, and exciting activities downtown and in Old Vallarta. To the

south, there are secluded beaches and mountain towns, some only accessible by boat. Puerto Vallarta is also a popular

Hollywood getaway for stars and has been the filming location for many famous movies.

Local Points of Interest:

o El Malecón – A favorite for locals and tourists alike, El Malecón is a seaside promenade spanning over 2,800 feet

(870 meters) through Old Vallarta and downtown with restaurants, bars, discos, art galleries, and shopping. Along

the promenade, one will find unique sculptures made by local and international artists, plus street performers playing

music, painting, creating beautiful sand sculptures, and clowns performing tricks.

o Old Vallarta – Old Town Vallarta, also known as the Romantic Zone, with its cobblestone streets and quiet

atmosphere, is a reflection of a typical Mexican style town. Here you can enjoy cafés, restaurants, shops, boutiques,

art galleries and a great variety of nightclubs near Los Muertos beach.

o Rio Cuale Island – Between downtown and Old Vallarta is the Cuale River, Rio Cuale Island is between the two

arms of the river and is a wonder to explore. There is a central walkway with shops great for finding souvenirs and

authentic handcrafts, plus restaurants and cafés. There are also cobbled passages, tropical trees, and Gringo Gulch,

which offers beautiful views of the mountains. A fun way to get to the island is crossing the river on one of the

traditional swinging bridges.

o Pueblo Viejo – This Old Town artisan market is located a couple of blocks from the Municipal Market you can find

a great variety of stores selling jewelry, souvenirs, local handicrafts, and clothing, and much more.

o Puerto Vallarta Municipal Market - The two-story Municipal Market is located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s

historic center, offering 159 stalls with a wide variety of Puerto Vallarta souvenirs, art, traditional clothing, jewelry,

and typical Mexican food such as seafood, tacos, stuffed chilis, and more.

o Our Lady of Guadalupe Temple - One of the most visited places in Puerto Vallarta is Our Lady of Guadalupe

Church, a symbol of the city recognized worldwide. With its wonderful architecture and famous crown, it is a

meeting point for thousands of pilgrims visiting all year round, particularly in December when the Feast of the Virgin

of Guadalupe is celebrated.

o Marina Vallarta - Marina Vallarta, a modern and sophisticated area located a minute from the Puerto Vallarta

International Airport, offers a great variety of attractions. It has a world class golf course, an exclusive hotel zone, a

marina with luxury yachts and boats from all over the world, a boardwalk with a variety of restaurants and a

lighthouse from where one can enjoy a spectacular view of Puerto Vallarta.

o Los Arcos Marine Park - The well-known Puerto Vallarta “Arcos,” located to the south of the city are small

granite islands jutting out of the water. They are called Los Arcos (Arches) due to their arched shape rock

formations. The largest is 25 meters (82 ft.) high so even boats can navigate through it. The smaller arches are ideal

places to snorkel and dive, as people can swim through them and dive in the numerous caves and tunnels shaped

through time by nature.

o Vallarta Botanical Garden - South of Puerto Vallarta is an oasis of gardens with a large collection of native plants

and flowers, including orchid and vanilla conservatories. Some of the main attractions are rose gardens, aquatic

plants, cactus, ferns, a tropical fruit orchard, a picnic area, a restaurant, and shops.


o Mismaloya - Located south of Puerto Vallarta, Mismaloya offers a beautiful beach surrounded by tropical jungle.

Here you can enjoy delicious seafood dishes offered at small restaurants or hike upriver to El Eden, where you can

slide down waterfalls into natural pools.

o Beaches south of Puerto Vallarta - Take a water taxi or organized tour to the secluded, pristine beaches south

of Puerto Vallarta such as Colomitos, Las Animas, Yelapa, Quimixto, Majahuitas, or Caletas. Swim in the calm

waters, try local seafood, horseback riding or water sports.

science, nature, and exploration. The kids enjoy arts & crafts as well as movie nights, Mini Golf course, and sandcastle

competitions. We even have a weekly campout adventure for the kids (with parents’ approval, of course)! Gaming
