For the curious
There’s an exciting world for children to discover right outside their window. Print out this sheet and point to the labeled objects together, demonstrating how to pronounce each word. Then look for those objects outside, using a convenient viewpoint from around your house, apartment, or classroom. You can even try looking together in different types of weather to see if that changes what you’re able to find.

Pick a room with which your child or student is familiar. Then, without them seeing, place new objects around the room in partially obscured areas. (For example, put a tea kettle on a bookshelf.) Using the blank space provided, have children find these objects and then draw them. Label each object as you go, and pronounce it for them. Encourage children to use positional language as they discuss each drawing.
