Preparing tomorrow’s leaders todayThe UniSA Leadership Program offers students the opportunity to participate in a selection of programs aimed at developing leadership capabilities and enhancing employability.

UNITE ProgramAimed at undergraduate students, but open to all UniSA students

LEAD ProgramOpen to students that have previously completed UNITE or another approved leadership development program.

National Training Excellence AwardsUniSA's Leadership Program that was recognised in Sydney at the 2014 Australian Institute of Training and Development's National Training Excellence Awards.

The National Training Excellence Awards recognise outstanding excellence in learning and development and in organisational development.

Experience Leadership 2013The second intake of the program expanded participation to over 20 students. Five groups were formed for the Action Learning Projects and the training was again conducted exclusively with Fulcrum People. All projects were completed with staff from UniSA acting as Project Clients.

Topics covered at the Live-In Experience at the Adelaide Shores Resort included DISC Personality Profile, Teamwork and Communication (including Belbin Team Roles), Project Management, Reaching Consensus, Presentation skills and Conscious Leadership.

Student Television Service Lisa Murrie, Peilin Phua, Sam Bald, Sara Huang  Developed a proposal for a Student Television Service (STS) to deliver student generated content for display in a variety of facilities and devices. Developed proposals for short-film competitions and club content that could be screened on a loop during business hours and as fillers before Movie Nights. Club content is a regular feature on the big screen in the Jeffrey Smart Forum as a result.

Student WellbeingDaniel Calio, Timmy Pham, Zoran Zhelezarov, Aref Ahmadi (Assistant)

Investigated factors that impact Student Wellbeing at UniSA and formed a Student Wellbeing Club that attracted over 200 members during 2013 and 2014. Became involved in several wellbeing events and campaigns to raise awareness of the support available to students.

Student Clubs RejuvenationBen Shaw, Hannah Ngo, Jessica Carney, Mohd Aizat Abdul Rahim  Investigated barriers to UniSA Clubs’ success and made recommendations to USASA and UniSA on support mechanisms that will help to build a strong club culture. Recommendations implemented as a result of their recommendations included a Clubsfest event, workshops targeted at club organisers and greater access to grant funding for clubs.

Reconciliation Action PlanAzadeh Tavakoli-Wilson, Melissa Beaton, Natalie Nelissen, Terry Tan, Nick Arundel (Assistant)

This team researched student opinions regarding the development of UniSA’s Reconciliation Action Plan. The RAP was launched in late 2013 with several of the student recommendations included. Some of the key recommendations related to a Welcome to Country Ceremony at O-Week and the display of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags on campus, amongst others.

Student Engagement with Careers ServicesKate Crayford, Lisa Ranson, Rob Robinson, Tiffany Ngo  Researched the barriers to the Careers Services team effectively communicating with current students and put forward suggestions for enhanced promotion of Careers Services. Several recommendations regarding the content and tone of communications were implemented by the Careers Team.
