There are over 30 native Asiaticlanguages still spoken in Siberia to this day.Lake Baikal is the world’s largest, and has morestatistics than any other lake.In WW2 Stalin had an idea to invade Japan – bytunnel. He gave orders to build tunnels fortroop trains from the Russian mainland, viaSakhalin Island, to Japan. It’s estimated over30,000 men– mostly convict labour – died onthe project, which never got further than 8km.On the day Stalin died the workers killed theirguards and escaped.

DAY 07Standing on the shores of Lake Baikal, youcan’t help being awestruck with admirationby the wonder created by nature itself. It isthe deepest Lake in the world that containsthe fifth part of the Earth’s fresh water. Afterbreakfast, board a motor ship to sail on thewaters of the Baikal to the village ofListvyanka. Here you will visit the uniquemuseum dedicated to the flora and fauna ofthe Lake. Not to be missed is theobservation point at the Cherssky Stonewith a stunning view on the Lake and theAngara river.
