• Last mountain rainforest in Java • Covered areas 135.332 ha
• Gunung Gede Pangrango National Parks ± 21.975 ha• Gunung Halimun Salak National Parks ± 113.357 ha
• Home to Java’s most threatened species: Owa jawa (Hylobates moloch), Elang jawa (Spizaetus bartelsi), Surili (Presbytis comata) dan Macan tutul jawa (Panthera pardus melas)
• Primary water catchment for 20 million people

Background
– GOAL: Ensure the continuity and sustainability of functions and role of a National Park as natural resources for the human race
– PERIOD: 5 years (2008 - 2012)
– TARGETS: Water catchments function; Critical land rehabilitation, focusing on upstream areas; Community participation; Private sector participation; Public awareness on the interconnectivity of all lives, both upstream and downstream

the GEDEPAHALA corridor are functioning and sustainable by creating a “green wall” of vegetation to demarcate and secure the borders.
