EXPANSION - Why Now?

Overflowing at Jumah, Tarawweh, and Eid Prayers

- Need for social space for brothers and sisters.- Better facility for conferences and classes No adequate space for Annur Annual

A Dire Need for: Larger men’s Prayer Hall Larger sister’s prayer area Easily accessible Kitchen & Cafeteria Bookstore Larger and easily accessible babysitting rooms Youth designated game space

EXPANSION - Why Now? Al-Arqam Islamic School (AIS):

School enrollment has been increasing rapidly at an average rate of 12%.

Currently school has 17 classrooms many of which are small for number of students.

Science and computer labs are very small

High school needs more space (classrooms)

Having boys and girls designated classes/areas for grades 5th and up.

New Stairs Four new stairs to be added to serve school staff and students

Circulation & Corridors Will have good amount of day lighting and fresh circulating air through operable skylights

Masjid Section A small area of the second floor will be dedicated to the Masjid staff and occasional Guests in addition to a janitor room and a book storage

Administration Section Offices, nurse room and meeting room centrally located between the boys and the girls sections

Boys Section Includes 8 classrooms, teacher room, Kitchen, restroom and storage

Girls Section Includes 9 classrooms, teacher room, restroom and a storage

Shared Spaces Section Includes an Auditorium, Library, 2 Science labs, 1 computer lab,1 activity & arts room and a recourse room. In addition 2 separate stairs connecting the 2nd floor to the existing Gymnasium will be provided

Design/Plans Status Update

The design is the actual sizing and shape of the steel, electrical wiring, panel sizing, ton age of the air-conditioning units, etc…

The plans is to transfer of these design specification into the paper trail (Plan sheets).

Target date for submitting plans is end of Feb 2011
