Components

Alloy BeamThe beam/seal retainer is manufactured from grade AS 1664.1 6063 - T6 extruded aluminium alloy. All bored holes are at 200mm centres to meet the AS5100.4 design requirements.

AnchorThe anchor is a tension anchor developed by Trelleborg.

The M20 grade 8.8 galvanised HSS threaded stud and nut system inside a plastic sleeve allows tensioning of the rod through the nuts to achieve true axial tension. After allowing the blockcut concrete to cure, the anchors should be tensioned to 500Nm of torque.

The SNUG + turn method is not applicable to tension anchors. The anchor is also available in stainless steel to comply with Queensland Main Roads MRS 11.82 or where high corrosion resistance is required.

SealThe neoprene seal is manufactured by Trelleborg to conform to RTA B315. It is available in both the drape and flush type and while both will meet a maximum expansion of 125mm. The maximum recommended design gap is 85mm as specified by AS5100.4.

TEPA SSA 100 Expansion Joint System

The SSA 100 expansion joint system is designed and manufactured in Australia by Trelleborg Engineered Products.

The system is a combination of a structural alloy beam and seal retainer together with a tension anchor.

The seal is either a neoprene rubber drape (“V”) type or flush seal, capable of meeting movements of up to 125mm.

The tension anchor and the beam have been designed to be fully compliant with AS5100.4 Bridge Bearings and Deck Joints and RTA B315.

Installation

KerbKerb or parapet sections are produced by welding. The seal conforms to the resulting shape.

Water The seal, if correctly installed, will ensure the joint is watertight. At all butt joins, a neoprene seal will be provided to ensure a watertight connection.

Movement RangeThe range for the Drape seals is 0 - 125mm. For the standard flush seal it is 13 - 125mm, 30 - 125mm for the large flush seal and 200mm for the W seal.

TechniqueAdditional details on installation will be made available upon request. The installation gap for TEPA SSA 100 is 35 - 40mm for the drape and standard flush seal (D and SF) and 50mm for the large flush seal (LF).

Installation ConsiderationsThe top of the aluminium beam should be level with the finished running surface. The block out is typically about 250mm wide x 200mm deep (this should be confirmed by the designer). Detailed installation instructions are availble upon request.
