BackgroundAndre N.H. Bulabula | June 14th, 2019

Africa is a very large continent and training very expensive for the majority of Africans.

Few countries provide IPC degree programs, resulting in high study costs (travelling and accommodation).

Accessibility within and across countries is a major issue.

Given these challenges we had to develop context specific and innovative ways to provide IPC training: IPC Virtual Learning

Solution to Distance and CostAndre N.H. Bulabula | June 14th, 2019

• The classic IPC training is VERY EXPENSIVE for African professionals.

COST

• COST-EFFECTIVE

• Accessible IPC quality solutions

• Covers wider areas

Virtual Learning • African higher

education institutions offering IPC training are FAR FROM COUNTRIES WITH NEEDS

Technology in AfricaAndre N.H. Bulabula | June 14th, 2019

Africa is the fastest growing mobile region in

the world.

That status offers a lot of opportunities to

Innovate training tools and provide useful

Apps to health professionals and

the community.

Let’s use the Technology

• This is a virtual learning platform at ICAN in collaboration with the Project ECHO / University of New Mexico, USA.

• ICAN ECHO IPC is the first platform to provide IPC expertise through Project ECHO movement in the world.

• Each session will consist of case based learning related to infection prevention and control (IPC) matters, where different spokes will join the Hub via a webcam over the Zoom platform where participants can see each other on line and communicate in real time.

• Best practices in IPC are shared through case-based learning process and peer discussion
