Tomorrow, our country will celebrate a holiday known as Memorial Day.

This day is set aside to remember those who fought so valiantly to defend our country and the freedoms that you and I enjoy!3

Some use it simply as just a day off work, a day to relax or grill out. Not for its purpose, but simply for their personal enjoyment.4

Today is our Memorial Day as well. Its the day we remember Christ and His sacrifice (Lk. 22:19; Acts 20:7)5

Sadly, some view it as nothing more than another day off of work

6

What should we remember on this Memorial Day, as well as every day of the week?7Memorial Day1. Remember the day of your salvation

God wanted the children of Israel to remember their salvation from the hands of Egyptian bondage

Ex. 13:3,9

Deut. 5:15; 15:15

When we remember, we appreciate8Eph. 2:11-13 We need to remember that we were once without Christ, but because of His blood, we who were far off have been brought near to Him

9Memorial Day2. Remember what God has done for us

In I Samuel 7, Samuel erected a stone and called it Ebenezer

That means Stone of Help

The Israelites had turned back to serve God only, and were being attacked by the Philistines10Memorial Day2. Remember what God has done for us

God helped them that day, and Samuel said about the Ebenezer Thus far the Lord has helped us

It was important for Israel to recognize Gods hand in their lives

Its equally as important for us to recognize that as well11Memorial Day2. Remember what God has done for us

Ps. 105:5 Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth

Ps. 143:5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands.12

Lets remember all of Gods blessings and the answered prayers so that He who glories, let him glory in the Lord. (I Cor. 1:31)13Memorial Day3. Remember the forefathers of the faith

Ex. 32:13 Moses told the COI to remember those such as Abraham, Isaac, and Israel (Jacob)

They were to remember the promise that came to them and the responsibility they have to continue in the Lord14

Num. 15:40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.

Why did God say that?

Back up one verse to verse 3916Memorial Day4. Remember Gods will for your life

God knows that we are inclined to forget, but also to follow after our own desires and heart

Christ wants us all to remember His words (Jn. 15:20; 16:4)

Therefore we may live by them17Above all, we should remember the one who was willing to sacrifice His life and die for us!
