Over 800 visitors attended the indoor 2018 Earth Day Fair. And over 600 attended the indoor 2019 Earth Day Fair despite the snowy weather conditions! The year’s theme is Restore Our Earth. Help to restore our planet by targeting climate change, environmental justice, recycling and conservation issues. Share your thoughts and actions at #RestoreOurEarth! Did you know that the first Earth Day was initiated by citizens just like us? On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans protested on college campuses and in city streets around the country, demanding an end to air pollution, rivers that burned, oil spills in the ocean, and loss of wildlife species. This first Earth Day launched the passing of numerous environmental laws to protect air, land and water and prompted the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Earth Week Naperville’s goal is to raise awareness about local and global environmental issues. With numerous activities available in Naperville and the surrounding communities, take a stand for the Earth!
