Purpose of the Exhibition
• To synthesize and apply learning of previous years and to reflect upon one’s journey through the PYP
• To engage in an in-depth, collaborative inquiry based on a topic of personal connection or interest
• To demonstrate independence and responsibility for their own learning
• To celebrate the transition of learners from primary to middle/secondary education
How the Exhibition Works
Working with a mentor and teachers, students will:
• Identify a real-life issue or problem that is relevant to them
• Investigate the issue (involves inquiry/research/action)
• Offer solutions and positive action
• Share their inquiry results with the community
Sharing the Exhibition
Students will share their learning through:
• Written work• Oral presentations• Multi-media presentations• Performances in a variety of mediums• Art work
Assessment
All assessment of the Exhibition is internal and will be
developed with student input.
Assessment data will include:• Checklists and rubrics • Student self-reflections on the process and the product
Exhibition Status
• Exhibition has been introduced to the students
• Students will choose topics by the end of the week and start the Tuning In process next week
• Teachers have signed up to be mentors
• Looking for parents who are interested in becoming mentors

Role of the Student
• Develop their own central idea, lines of inquiry, and investigations
• Collaboratively plan learning and assessment experiences
• Carry out an open-ended inquiry investigation• Demonstrate an understanding of the five essential
elements of the PYP• Work with a mentor to guide their process• Be academically honest while researching• Arrange field trips
Role of the Mentor
• Meet with a group 1-3 times per week • Act as a guide and resource• Make suggestions on how to make the process and
product better• Continuously reflect with the group on their progress
and next steps• Attend field trips• Assess the final assessment for 2-3 groups
Role of the Parent
• Ask questions about the issues your child has chosen• Guide your child to find information related to the issue• Coordinate outings or contacts that will help them learn
about their issue• Discuss progress and help students keep track of
deadlines• Celebrate your child‘s success in completing the
