Prattle
On occasion of an art prize, Prattle was held at
Kuandu Museum, which is located in Taipei National
University of Arts, to investigate the institutional
relationship between art award, museum and the
university, as well as to reconsider their critical
agency. I first host several occasions for
conversations and discussions based on artist-research in whichlocal art scene were deliberately responded. The polished
transcripts of chat sessions (there was, amongst others, a
marathon discussion during a round trip from north end to south
end of Taiwan) then turned into a publication before the opening of
the exhibition. The figure of an analytical relationship between
artists’ works and their contexts has been portrayed within the
publication. Consequently, we took these elements and rendered
them as a way of exhibiting strategy to represent the dialogue
among artworks in Prattle .

Video Acrobatics
Organized by Pingpong Art Space, Video Acrobatics is a
curatorial project with an intent to accelerate the performativity
that resides within the video works and to experiment with their
displaying condition, we arranged the exhibition as a video relay
to play 5 videos respectively in 5 weeks; and transformed 3
works among the show into 3 social activities that fixed with the
contexts of the original ones. As a result, we expanded more
possible environments for beholders as to increase their
involvement with artworks.

Live Ammo
Exhibited in Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, Live Ammo is
a curatorial investigation upon the intersection of social reality
and artistic practice with 26 artists’ contribution, either placing
arts in the social context, or putting outside reality into the white
cube. In order to destabilize the exhibition stereotype, the artistslaid equal stress on their performances and stationary works,
both of which referred to one another. With the objective to reflect
on contemporary society and humanity, Live Ammo has widely
stirred up the public feedbacks in its six-weeks exhibition period
in which some of the action-based artworks caused social
criticisms with moral concerns.

Post Office (I&II)
Post Office is a year long, project-based curatorial series begins
with an idea to rethink the condition of art production in this
information age, in which contemporary arts making may seen as
part of the communication industry that is informationalized,
disposable even ephemeral. Accordingly, we transformed art
exhibitions into either a business meeting or an assemblage of
archives, and paid closer attention to artists’ immaterial production
base and their particular investigatory field in which they are
engaged. In this curatorial investigation, the artists are referred to
by their creative prototypes. Thus tentatively touching the front line
of artistic creation.

Collected Matters: notes on Fuyuka Shindo
Collected Matters: Notes on Fuyuka Shindo began with a conversation
with the artist in a Yakitori dinner. It was about the conceptual and aesthetic
relationship between artifacts and their materials, as well as how it could
reshape our idea of boundaries in terms of artistic practices and cultural
differences.
The practice of Fuyuka Shindo consists of serial combination of
various mediums that have originated from a long history loaded
with established technique, such as silk fabrics, sewing, and
embroidery works on animal skins. Referencing to the local artifacts,
which suggest Hokkaido and its neighborhood Tohoku and Sakhalin,
the work contains the cultural prestige from within, and much as the
oral tradition, these techniques are taught by the maternal side of
her family and some regional artisans. Shindo’s work bespeaks an
organic sense of space and time, interplaying between
remembering and forgetting in archiving the visual memory, be it
personal or collective.
