EXERCISE TESTING AND EVALUATION
(SEL 35)
Prepared by : Mohd Nur Ikhwan bin Shafiee 2008401412
Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle or group of muscles to sustain repeated contractions against a resistance for an extended period of time.
what is muscle endurance ?
WHAT IS MUSCLES STRENGTH?
Muscle strength refers to the amount of force a muscle can produce with a single maximal effort. Size of muscle cells and the ability of nerves to activate them are related to muscle strength.
Squat test
Curl up test
Muscle endurance test
Abdomens strength test
Leg strength test
MUSCLE STRENGTH TEST
PHYSIOLOGICAL SYSTEM IN SQUAT TEST
- The major muscle involve in the test - is bicep femoris @ quadriceps
IN THE CURL UP- Major muscle that involve is - rectus abdominis
Physiological system
In abdominal strength test : - The major muscle involve is rectus
abdominis ( stomach )
In leg strength test : - The major muscle is bicep femoris /
quadricept - calf muscle / gastrocnemeus
Physiological system
THE TEST
squat testthe objective of the test
to asses the endurance of athlete’s quadricept
Equipments require
- a chair that makes your knees bend at right angles when you are sitting
- assistant
methods
Stand in front of a chair, facing away from it, with your feet shoulders width apart
Squat down and lightly touch the chair with your backside before standing back up
Keep doing this until you are fatigued
Record the number of squats completed
The norms
crunches objective
to assess the endurance of the athlete's abdominal muscles
Equipments require flat surface
Mat Watch A partner
methods
Lie on the mat with the knees bent, feet flat on the floor, the hands resting on the thighs and the back of the head on the partner's hands
Curl up slowly using the abdominal muscles and slide the hands up the thighs until the finger tips touch the knee caps
Return slowly to the starting position
The feet are not to be held
A complete curl-up is to take 3 seconds-that is 20 repetitions/minute
Repeat as many curls as possible at this rate
Record the total number of curls
Abdominal strength testObjective
estimate the degree of abdominal strength Poor abdominal muscle strength can cause poor posture leading to lower back pain
Equipments require
flat surface goniometer to measure the angle of the leg
The subject lays on the flat surface
The hip joint should be aligned to the intersection of the scale
The arms are held across the chest and the head rested on the floor
The testor places their finger tips underneath the subject's lower back
Both legs are raised to a 90-dregee angle (vertically) while keeping the upper body flat on the floor
The subject may bend their knees first to move to the starting position, before straightening the knee joint
subject aims to sustain the pressure on the tester's fingers under the lower back by contracting the abdominals as the legs are lowered
The subject slowly lowers both legs until the pressure on the hand behind the back disappears
lowest angle observed as the pressure is taken off is the measurement of their abdominal strength
Leg strength testObjective
To asses the strength of calf muscle of an athlete
•400 metre track •Cones •Stop Watch •Assistant
•Use two cones to mark out a 25 metre straight section of track •Start 10 to 15 metres behind the starting line •Jog to the start, then hop the 25 metres from cone to cone •Do this first on the dominant leg, then rest and repeat on the other leg The assistant records your time to complete the 25 metres
THANKYOU!!
