The Secretary General of the League of Arab States has set up an Arab

Roundtable to select the key indicators to track the Arab Countries’ progress

A National Roundtable

bring a range of stakeholders together (including policy makers,

statisticians, experts and civil society) to discuss the key aspects of life that matter for a society in order

to judge progress.

To make the life easier you should assume that the only indicators

available for your country are the ones which can be found in the

OECD Factbook.

Key IndicatorsA set of key indicators covers economic, social,

environmental and other concerns without deriving any particular single measure.

Example of the headline indicators chosen to Measure Australian Progress:

1. INDIVIDUALS: Health; Education and Training; Work.

2. THE ECONOMY AND ECONOMIC RESOURCES: National Income; Economic Hardship; National Wealth; Housing; Productivity.

3. THE ENVIRONMENT: the Natural Landscape; the Air and Atmosphere; Oceans and Estuaries.

4. LIVING TOGETHER: Family, Community, and Social Cohesion; Crime; Democracy, Governance, and Citizenship.

the 10 most important available indicators of your region’s progress

recommend another 5 indicators which are needed to provide a full assessment of progress but for which data are not available

reflect on the process: Were discussions useful? How was consensus reached? Where there were areas of disagreement?
