Executive Branch
-One of the three branches of government
• E branch: Article II• Article 2 explains
Pres.’ duties, limits, requirements...
-Duty: carry out the laws of the Nation
• E Enforce the law!
-Executive Branch is the largest of the branches with millions of employees
• Around 3 million

-3 Requirements• at least 35 years old• native born/on U.S.
soil• U.S. citizen @least
14 yrs.• **V.P., speaker of
house, etc...must meet SAME requirements.

Presidential Terms-elected through the
electoral college system-Process of electing the President—each state is assigned a number of electors equal to its representation in Congress and a majority of electoral votes is required to be elected
• otherwise the House chooses the President
• 270/538 electoral votes to win
-Presidents serve 4 year terms
-limited to serving two 4 year terms-22 Amendment

-Main responsibility is to be ready to replace the President
-Official head of the Senate
-Is usually heavily involved in the policies pursued by the President

• 1951- FDR elected 4 times (1st 1932) HITLER
• A change away from Roosevelt, who had led the nation through the Great Depression, did not seem wise.
• Nominated for 3rd term, and won.
• When 1944 rolled around, changing leaders in the middle of World War II, which the United States was now engaged in (not a good idea to leave)
• FDR ran for and was elected to
a 4th term.• Harry Truman, became
President upon FDR's death less than 100 days after his inauguration.
• FDR's leadership was a key reason that the U.S. came out of WWII victorious, the Congress was determined, once the war ended to do 22
