A. OVERVIEW OF POSITIONS
While reviewing the general position duties, please keep in mind that each member of the Executive Board is
expected to take ownership for the success of the chapter, and take on any responsibilities or tasks needed
towards that end.
I. VICE PRESIDENT
Acting for President upon his/her absence or request or in the event that the President is temporarily
unable to serve
Participate in Student President Conference Call when President is unavailable (see Members
Area/Admin/Resources/Chapter Docs/ Society Calendar)
Oversee Committee Chairs by supporting them with needed tools and resources as well as holding them
accountable for their goals
II. SECRETARY
Record minutes at Executive Board Meetings
Take attendance at Orientation, Speaker Events and Leadership Training Day
Enter attendance online in Members Area for the above events
Send email reminders about upcoming events as award and scholarship deadlines
Participate in Student President Conference Call when President and Vice President are unavailable
III. TREASURER
Create bank account for Chapter either on campus or at a local bank with President and Advisor Attend any necessary Student Government financial meetings
Create and manage budget for National Dues and local expenses
Work with Fundraising Chair to assess needed funds to support chapter
Take lead in collecting and following up on local dues if applicable
IV. SNT COORDINATOR
Reserve rooms for the first three SNT meetings for each group
SNTs are required to meet every other week
Room reservations should be confirmed at least 1 week prior to Orientation
Collect attendance from SNT groups after each meeting
Send friendly email reminders to SNT group members that did not submit an SNT reflection (must besubmitted online in the Members Area within 24 hours of each meeting)
Send follow-up emails to individual members who have not submitted after reminder
Help facilitate first SNT meetings for all groups

Watch the Maximize Your SNT Video
If roles were not previously selected, encourage teams to assign roles as described in the guide
Create schedule for Executive Board to assist at 1st SNT Meetings
Make sure at least 1-2 Executive Board members are present

V. PUBLICITY CHAIR
Oversee Publicity Committee
Creatively advertise Society as well as specific events hosted by the chapter
Create flyers
Work with IT Coordinator to create and maintain content for chapter website and Facebook Group
Customize provided press releases for school newspaper
Reach out to professors, student organizations, athletics, Residential Life, and other groups on campus as a
way of promoting Society
VI. FUNDRAISING CHAIR
Oversee Fundraising Committee
Develop fundraisers for Chapter
Society Internship Referral Program
Sponsors (ask National Office for assistance with ideas as needed)
Fundraiser Events
VII. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) COORDINATOR
Create Chapter email address
Apply for address with school (may be required as a part of registration)
Alternately, create chapter account with either Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo
Design Chapter Website with the Publicity Chair Maintain content
Form a Facebook group with the Publicity Chair
Work with IT and AV departments on campus as well as the Society surrounding tech issues
Supply all events with proper IT equipment and make sure it all functions correctly
Rooms on campus may already be equipped
Equipment may also be borrowed or rented from certain departments on campus
Arrive at each event at least one hour prior to test equipment and Internet connections
VIII. SOCIETY EVENTS CHAIR
Oversee Society Events Committee
Reserve rooms and coordinate set-up for Orientation, Leadership Training Day, Speaker Events (live and
Video-on-Demand), and Induction Take lead on ordering food if serving refreshments
IX. SOCIAL EVENTS CHAIR
Oversee Social Events Committee
Planning and implementing social events
Bowling
Ice cream socials
Mini golf

Game night
Reserve rooms and coordinate set-up for non-Society related events
Take lead on ordering food if serving refreshments
X. MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH COORDINATOR (2 COORDINATORS IF CHAPTER HAS MORE THAN 150
MEMBERS)
Recruit and oversee a Membership Outreach Committee of at least five people
Request table or booth at campus involvement fairs to promote Society and membership
Create sign-up for committee members to assist at fair
At least two committee members should be in attendance at all Society events to welcome members and
non-member attendees
Non-member attendees will only be present at Orientation, Speaker Events and Induction
Ask committee members to arrive at events at least 15-30 minutes prior to start of event
Divide member list among committee so that each person has 10-20 members to establish and maintain a
relationship with (request list from Student President, Vice President or Secretary)
List may be divided randomly, alphabetically, or by class year
Its important to assign specific people to members so they have ownership over their task
Review Member Outreach section of manual with Committee during first meeting
Create an outreach timeline with Committee and call, email or Facebook members
Within the week following Orientation each Committee Members should reach out to assigned members
and ask if there are questions that went unanswered
About one month after Orientation, have committee do temperature check outreach
Call, email or Facebook to see how members are doing by asking the following questions: Do event dates and times work with your current schedule?
Are the Society events publicized well?
Are you interested in getting more involved with the Society?
Do you have any questions?
Once SNTs have begun, call, email or Facebook to see how they are going
Have your SNT meetings been a positive experience thus far? If not, why?
During semester, have committee reach out to their assigned members who are not attending events to
check-in to see if everything is okay (a phone call may be the best way)
At the end of each semester send an email wishing good luck on finals and include a schedule for the
following semester
XI. COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAIR
Oversee Community Service Committee
Establish partnerships with service organizations on campus and in community
APO (Alpha Phi Omega), Habitat for Humanity, Best Buddies, Relay For Life, etc.
Be sure to offer a variety of events or projects for members
Keep track of where members are participating in service events
Apply for the Chapter Most Dedicated to Community Service award each year
