Stage 3 Great Aussie Bush Camp Update

School camps for Term 3 still remain on hold and will be reconsidered in the next couple of weeks. At

this stage there is a very slim chance we will be able to attend camp. This will be confirmed either way

within the next 2 weeks.

Staff Development Make Up Days 2020 (December 17 & 18)

On Monday afternoon all teachers participated in a professional learning session led by the Literacy and

Numeracy Advisor Megan Clarke on the five elements of effective reading. Teachers are focusing on the

importance of building student’s vocabulary in order to improve their skills in reading and writing. We will

be participating in another twilight session with Megan Clarke on the 25 August to finalise the session.

On Saturday 21 November all staff will be taking part in a school planning day.

These make up days do not effect students as the final school day for 2020 is Wednesday 16 December.

Restrictions for Term 3

Just a reminder that parents are only allowed on site between 10am and 2pm. If you need to attend the

in the Premiers Sporting Challenge. K-2 Students were able to record their participation on their

tracker. Students had a lot of fun.

Library News

Thank you Bradbury for your support of the Book Fair despite the

restrictions. I hope your children are enjoying their new books. There

were not too many books on order, but they should be delivered by next

week. Your support is very appreciated as we have earned over $1300 in

commission, which will be used to upgrade the presentation of the Non

Fiction area , ready for our new look Library early next term.

Thanks again.

Last Monday 11 of our students participated in their first on-line chess tournament. After a frustrating

start with access, the rest of the day flowed well and students were able to play 5 games of chess. All

students said they had an enjoyable day with wins and losses for all.

Keep on reading!

Character Description: Suri

(From the text “Suri’s Wall” by Lucy Estela and Matt Ottley)

Suri was quiet, almost like someone had put her on mute. Her hand slides along the wall. She was no older

than the other kids, but she was much taller. The other kids would always avoid Suri. During dinner, Suri

would listen to the kids chattering and laughing. As she watched the girls squeeze in tightly together, her

heart would pause and her back used force to pull her down on her flat, bed mattress. Early in the morning,

she woke up and walked to the brick wall peacefully, then she stood against the wall and noticed that she

was no longer shorter than the wall. Instead she was taller! She gasped so loud that she woke up the guard

near the steel gate.

Into The Fire

Sirens blasting. We all leap out of the truck and land on the ground with a crunch under

boots. We run out onto the scorched battlefield in your black-badged armour, grabbing our

red-handled sabres. Slashing with our silver blades, the fire-breathing dragon sizzles out of existence.

By Brayden D

Into The Fire

We rode in our towering stallion. The cry of the birds echo though the valley. I watch the flames; they

watch me back. My heart wanted to break free from the cage of my body. I got the blade of silver

water, pure gold erupted from the tip of the sabre. The fire winced, but it wasn’t enough. We need

backup! By Jarryd B

Into The Fire

The smoky substance filled the air. I had a feeling in my stomach that made me fear. I was overwhelmed

with these emotions. My hands were shaking like a psychotic lion was running towards me, not willing to

stop. The smoke was getting stronger and stronger, getting closer and closer. It was like a mother

screaming at her children. This feeling was terrifying. By Amelia S

Into The Fire

We charged the beast, sabres of glistening water in hand. The beast crackled in pain as our sabres

sliced it. The dragon’s tongue desperately licking everything in reach. We fought for the lives of the

people around us as the beast continued its reign of terror. It cackled with laughter at our desperate

attempts, but we continued to fight using our sabres of glistening liquid. We had finally won. By William P

Into The Fire

I crept slowly as I started to get butterflies in my stomach. Trying to fit in the rocky cave as my lips

started to dry up, like eating a burning hot pepper. As my feet began to shake and my hands clenched my

friends. I started to close my eyes as the beast came closer, staring at me like it was ready to pounce.

My heart pounds like lightning as my life was about to end in all the smoke around me. By Monte S

Into The Fire

I slowly put my knees up to my chest and clench my arms around my body as my heart beats rapidly. My

eyes wide open, watching the roaring fire rolling over the earth. My stomach felt queasy. “I d-d-don’t

feel good,” my brother stuttered as a tear rolled down his cheek as dry as the desert. “Me too,” I

replied softly, “Me too.” The furious fire raged on. By Alexander H

Into The Fire

The towering beast lured; our only hope was a cave filled with fear. My lips clenched tight as butterflies

infiltrated my stomach. Our hopes were slim as our story seals its fate. My tears weren’t enough to

defeat the ferocious beast. My breath became short, mirages caused gloomy illusions to form around me.

Was it the end? By Deacon D
