Boys and Girls alike, LOVE evolving into Junior Engineers! Students will discover what an engineer does and even more exciting,inquisitively create their OWN hands-on project which they get to take home most of the time. Enter a world of innovation, imagination,and learning. This semester's offering is: Half of the semester: Aerospace Engineering. Students are introduced to fundamentalconcepts of flight and aircraft design. Through focused exploration and engaging the Engineering Design Process, they will design,create, test, and improve their own solutions (projects include rockets, parachutes, and airplanes). The other half of the semester:Software Engineering. Using laptops, LEGO® WeDo Educational kits and software, students learn how to program and operate thevarious wild animals, cars, adventure stories, and soccer-themed creations they build. (note: NOT a take home project) Each semesterwe offer different programs. Investigate the visual arts through hands-on art making, while learning about various artists, art movements, and arttechniques. Time-tested lessons are structures to achieve a creative goal in a fun educational environment. The coursecontent and inspirational images change each semester, allowing students to explore art on a continual basis withoutrepetition. Students will work with a range of materials and techniques including drawing, painting, printmaking, andsculpture.

Art Smart is an early learning program that introduces young children to art by letting their natural creative abilities unfold ina fun environment. Our company provides classes on the campuses of 13preschools and elementary schools. Our instructors combined possess over 30 yrs. of dance/cheer/tumbling & teachingexperience. We strive to educate children in the basic ideas/techniques of dance/cheer/gymnastics in an environment wherechildren have fun while learning. Our unique curriculum is just as entertaining as it iseducational. At Camp Einstein, campers are engaged in hands-on lessons and are motivated to use their critical thinking skills whilelearning principles central to engineering, the earth, and the physical sciences. We offer after- school enrichment classes, summer andwinter camps, birthday parties, and workshops. We are proud to be serving the creative little minds of Texas!

USA Chess has been teaching children from beginners to experienced tournament chess players for over 15 years. Ourstaff is carefully selected both for their ability to play (all are experienced tournament players) and to teach the game in afun, entertaining and interesting way.

Teacher Description

Children of all ages and abilities will be taught the game of chess from experienced tournament players. Lessons are tailored to theabilities of the class. Beginners will be taught the basics (how the pieces move, the rules, etc. ) while more experienced players will begiven problems to solve, lessons in tactics, checkmates, openings, etc. Children will be split into groups by ability if more than 20 childrenenroll.

Miss Haiguang Jin (Miss Julia), owner of I Love Chinese earned a B.A. in Linguistics from China 12 years ago. She hastaught Chinese in the United States for more than eight years. She presently teaches in six preschools inside the loopincluding Rice, Cathedral House, ST. Paul. In addition, she also has a studio located in the Rice Village.

Teacher Description

This class is designed for those who have been taking Chinese classes for more than two semesters and able tounderstand at least 100 words. We will have a story for each lesson and each student will be an actor. Students will havelots of fun while learning and experiencing the real life conversation.

In this class we will focus on helping your children memorize about 200 most commonly used Chinese characters that willenable them to read simple Chinese story books, and teaching them how to write about 80 basic Simplified ChineseCharacters. Wedge, wiggle, pinch, pull, score and stretch! Investigate various ways to build clay vessels and sculptures using both kiln-fired ceramics and air-dry clay. Students will learn about basic clay concepts and tools and be encouraged to explore theirown creativity.

HGOco is Houston Grand Opera's uniqu intiative that explores making opera relevantto its changing audiences by connecting our company with the community through collaboration. HGOco createsopportunities for Houstonians of all ages and backgrounds to observe, participate in, and create art. The "Create an Opera"program has held success for nearly 20 years in schools and the community which Houston Grand Opera reaches.

Write Words, compose music, design and build sets, props and costumes and perform! Students will create their ownmasterpiece based on a popular children's story.

Bayou City Fencing Academy is the oldest and largest fencing facility in Harris County. Our instructors have extensive experienceteaching in both public and private schools. They themselves have all been exceptional fencers. Our fencers have won gold medals inlocal, state and national tournaments and have gone on to some of the most prestigious universities with fencing scholarships. We are amember of the United States Fencing Association and as such have hosted National as well coordinated the Houston NCAA fencingchampionships and senior and junior Olympics.

Move over three musketeers!! Fencing, a classic sport with history, drama and style, excites the imagination, encourages creativity andbuilds confidence in physical and mental skills. By requiring concentration, discipline and quick decision making, it improves thinkingskills and academic performance. Classes for both beginners and continuing fencers are structured to provide instruction in a curriculumappropriate for young students. The sport is taught in a FUN and captivating atmosphere of games and activities with focus on physicaldevelopment, coordination, fencing tactics and techniques. Students learn unique footwork, fencing actions, scoring, terminology,tournament protocol, strategy and problem resolution. MOST of all…Fencing is FUN!!!

Noel Foreman developed a curriculum over her 35 years of experience at Bellaire High School and the Glassell School ofArt, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has taught children of all ages Her experience includes multi-media, drawingand painting, experimental drawing, and advanced drawing, theatrical drawing and design, along with starting the FashionDesign department at Glassell. She participated in many community outreach programs, as well as directing the onlyFashion Design show as part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston program.

Teacher Description

What fun to become a fashion designer. Learn to use scissors. pins,tape measure, and even learn how to sew on a realsewing machine. The students will learn to draw a real fashion figure, and put their creative drawings in a sketch book.Many fabrics, trims, buttons and assorted decorations will be used. The teacher will give assignments, however, thestudents are encouraged to use their original ideas. All of their designs and supplies will be taken home at the end of thesemester. With a combination of hand and machine sewing skills, they are on their way as fashion designers. The class isalways full of excitement.

This class will provide fun physical activities involving low impact boot camp exercises. In addition, exercises that willinclude teamwork, agility, etc. will be provided so that the kids will be prepared for field day activities scheduled in theschool during the Spring Semester.

She currently studies with Timothy Hester,Professor of Piano at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. All instructors are accomplished musicians.Most teachers are doctoral candidates at the University of Houston in violin performance. They have extensive performanceand teaching experience, including with local orchestras.

Teacher Description

Students will learn how to play violin to the best of their ability. They will have a customized lesson plan and play piecespersonally selected for them in one or a combination of genres, such as classical, popular and holiday music. Moreimportantly, students will be engaged in learning a love and appreciation for music that could last a lifetime. Some theoryinstruction will be included in the lesson. Students must provide their own instrument. There will be a recital at thecompletion of each semester.






Linda’s music studio is lead by Linda Singer, classically-trained pianist who has studied piano for twenty-five years. Sheperformed for former President George H.W. Bush and former Secretary of State James Baker III, as a pianist at theHouston Club. She also sang in Carnegie Hall in New York City, as a member of the alto section of the Christ UnitedMethodist Church of Sugar Land Festival Choir. Linda studied in the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory program at theShepherd School of Music at Rice University for approximately ten years. In this class, the ultimate goal is to give students performance opportunities. For this to happen, students must feelconfident. Therefore, the steps we will take for students to feel confident in their singing, is by the instructor setting up theclasses as follows: Students will be taught warm up & breathing techniques, allow for practicing long glissando (sirens),ear-training so they can match their pitch with piano notes, teach scales and intervals, work on vowels, tone and openthroat techniques.

Introduction to the fundamental skills and strategies of organized volleyball. Volleyball requires development of thefollowing individual skills: forearm pass, set, spike, block, dig, and serve. In addition, students will gain an understandingof elementary team strategies. Students will learn to practice effective communication with teammates.
