Cases: Financial Market
Rabobank4-stage transaction service reduced the time from 14.3 s to 7.3 s;100% proven availability of application
Standart Chartered Bank Website 500% faster;Transaction services saw a 100% increase in speed; As a result of the increased speed, the number of transactions on the Internet grew 20%.
Bank of AmericaTransaction service with several stages saw a reduction in time from 34 s o 6 s;Performance in Asia increased 900%, and in Europe 200%;Percentage of transactions completed in 21 s jumped from 18% to 99%;Reduction in data center costs of over 38%.
Banif – Online Broker (Brazil)Transaction Service 40% faster;Availability went from 98.5 to 99.9%.

Measuring tools:
Dynamic Site Accelerator
To demonstrate the impact of acceleration and content availability in a non-secure environment (public)
From April 16 to June 19, 2011
Gomeznetworks.com – Compuware Division with problem points in Brazil, Argentina, Miami e Japan.
WPT – Web Page Test (webpagetest.org)
Measurement: Response time (All nodes)After switching to Exceed & Akamai network, the site started to respond in just 7.6 seconds. That amounts to acceleration of approximately +50%, following an average of nearly 8.7 seconds during the entire evaluation period. On average, the service was 17% faster than site B, which is delivered from the same server. It is worth mentioning that Akamai can deliver only 40% of the objects within the page, not being responsible for 60% of the remaining objects (served by site B), nor for the Html content.
Source: Gomez Network
Measurement: Availability (All nodes)Previous availability was 97.75%, and increased to 99.88%. 32 out of 36 measurements were at 100%.

Benchmark - Comparison Site A vs. TOP Banks at 9 global points
Conclusion:The website jumped from next-to-last to
first place.
Proven Results
1. Increased speed and service availability
Independent tests proved that even when delivering only 40% of Site A’s content (since the remaining objects are delivered by other domains), the site’s global speed improved by 44%, and service availability increased from 97% to 99%.
2. Reduced use of infrastructure
Akamai’s graphs proved that, during the tests performed on Site A, that infrastructure offloading was over 98%.
Making a projection for the Bank’s global traffic, the economy of bandwidth alone (not considering hardware, software, processing, cooling, energy, etc.) could be as much as 1 Gbps.

Measurement of Results - TrafficFirst day of traffic, following service implementation
Peak traffic of more than 60 Mbps, with an efficiency rate of over
78% of bandwidth offload.
That is, for an intake of approximately 70
Mbps of the source it requires only 15
Mbps.
Measurement of Results - Requests
Request offload of 88%, that is, only 12% were sent to
source.
Post-attack behavior
In half an hour, the traffic increased from 60 Mbps to 1.5 Gbps.A very small portion of the requirements was sent to source
website.
Post-Attack behavior
During the attack, only 1% of the
requirements were not met by the
source website, the same percentage as
the previous day.Clients didn’t realize the site was under attack, since the
availability hadn’t decreased.
Proven Results
1. Reduced use of infrastructure
Using Akamai's services generated an offload of 78% of bandwidth and 88% of requests at the source.
2. Capacity of absorbing attacks and protecting the website
The increase in traffic of approximately 2,500% as a result of the attack did not generate blockages or operational impacts in the services.
3. Availability and quality perception
All services continued operating as usual, with no impact felt by the bank’s clients, generating trust and protecting the brand.
