REVIEW FOR THE EXAM

Page 2: Exam review

SEASONSThere are four different seasons in a year because the Earth´s axis is tilted. As the Earth moves around the Sun, some parts of the Earth get different amounts of light depending on the moment of the year.

SEASONSSPRING AND AUTUMN

During spring and autumn the poles aren´t pointing to the Sun. So both hemispheres get the same amount of light. REMEMBER!!!

The Earth is always tilted. In this drawing we see it straight due to the oint of view.We change the point of view to see the Earth next to the Sun instead of in front of and behind the Sun.

MOONFrom the Earth we always see the same half of the Moon.

WHY?Because the Moon takes the same time to do a complete spin on its axis and to do a complete lap around the Earth (28 days).

Imagine the Moon is a clock that goes around another clock(the Earth).Every time it moves a quarter around the big clock, it also spins a quarter on itself.

MOONWe see different Moon phases.

WHY?The Moon is a satellite, a non luminous celestial body. We see it because it reflects the light of the Sun.

Depending on the place the Moon is ,according to the Earth and the Sun, we can see different illuminated areas.

ECLIPSESWHAT ARE ECLIPSES?

They are shadows produced by one non luminous celestial body on another non luminous celestial body.

From the Earth we can see Lunar or Solar eclipses.

How are they produced?
