ASSOCIATIVE INNOVATION FOR NEGATIVE

PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY (NPWT)

• Introduction: The use of NPWT is well

known world wide. Unfortunately the

different devices are not available for all

the countries and sometimes, the cost of

this treatment can be high.

• Aim: To evaluate the efficiency of the

NPWT when associated with different

dressings, current techniques and other

technologies performed, focusing the

reduction of costs.

• Method: Association of a rinse solution instilled

on the line of the NPWT device immediately

before the dressing remove. Utilization of

different types of sealant (glue) during the

procedure and association of silver dressing.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at least ten

sessions.

• Result: All the association promotes the

resolution of infection, protect the new

granulation tissue during the changes, improve

the quality of the granulation tissue and increase

the time between the changing of the dressing.

• Conclusion: Increasing the efficiency of

the infection treatment, development a

granulation tissue of better quality and

increasing durability of the dressing.

The time of treatment diminished and all

these effects contributed in a reduction

of the costs.
