1. INTRODUCTION

This section provides information on new products and functionalities for EVS’ Gateway solutions to facilitate the exchange of media between EVS and third-party systems.

2. XFILE 3 – RELEASE 1.12 The purpose of the new XFile 3 software application in this first release is to archive, manually or automatically, content from EVS servers to transportable hard drives and enable restoring content from hard drives to EVS servers. Compared to its precursor the XFile, the new application has been redesigned to enable:

• Easier use for backup and restore of content to and from EVS servers, • Simpler way of handling file formats and codecs thanks to its built-in transcoding possibilities, • Monitoring for all transfers through one single interface

2.1. NETWORK CONFIGURATION Unlike the previous generation of XFile, XFile 3 only uses Ethernet connectivity for content transfers and no XNet SDTI connectivity any more.

2.2. PRESENTATION OF THE USER INTERFACE Auto Archive Mode

The Templates zone in the middle of the window displays all the templates that can be used for either the Auto Archive or Archive Mode. If needed, the application offers the possibility to change the values of those templates by clicking on the Edit button .

The Job zone at the bottom of the window displays all jobs that are currently handled with information about their status. It is possible in the list of jobs to change the priority of some of them so that they can handled first by the system for instance.

Restore Mode Here’s an overview of the Restore window offering the possibility to restore content from a hard drive to any EVS video server on the network.

Monitoring Mode The monitoring modes display in one single window all the jobs that are handled by the system.

Selecting both Archive and Restore jobs (as shown in the screenshot where both buttons are highlighted in blue) will display all the jobs.

Selecting only one of the jobs, either Archive or Restore, will only display their respective jobs.

3. XSQUARE 2.01 3.1. IMPROVEMENTS AND NEW FUNCTIONALITIES

New features of the XSquare solution are described in detail in the Release Note accessible through this link.

However here’s a brief overview of most of them:

> Xsquare 2.01 includes a new monitoring window to see all the EVS Servers detected by Xsquare and also offers several new monitoring options.

> New Adobe NLE target is available

> Destination Free metadata function enables to add free metadata for each destination in the Xsquare template.

> FCP NLE target provides now a “Path matching” table that allows entering the information required to translate the destination path defined in IPDirector or Xsquare and the Mac volume where the media is read from.

> New Xsquare Scanfolder option - “Compare file size for change every xx s”: if this mode is selected in the Scanfolder “options” window, Xsquare will monitor the size of the source file to decide if the source file is complete or not (useful on the SAN).

> Avid Metadata Tape: it is now possible to add different variables in the Avid Metadata Tape > Job initiators: it is now possible to see in the Xsquare monitoring window from where (from which job initiator) one

job has been created (Target JOB V2, ScanXML or Scanfolder).
