It is summer and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city is one of the best things about the warm weather. Do you have a peaceful and calm place to escape to? If not, it is time to change that! Did you know that a simple canoe or kayak ride can decrease stress by up to 80%? If ever you are feeling the heat from both the weather as well as life, the simple act of sitting by the water can give your brain and your body a rest. Water is absolutely vital to the human body, we need it to live, we are also made up of about 60% of it, so no wonder we are drawn to it! Jumping in the water, or even dipping your feet in is a fantastic and simple way to cool down our bodies and allow us to relax and enjoy life in a simple way. “Summer in Ottawa has finally arrived. I’m loving the green and all the flowers and just the beauty of it all. And now I say to myself, ‘now what’? I want to share with you 3 things that may help you have a better summer. #1: Drink enough water. It’s always important to drink an adequate amount of water. A quick calculation is to take the number of pounds you are, and divide it by 2, and this is how many ounces you should drink/day. #2: Reduce your heat. Blinds on the windows will help. Do what you can to protect your house from the heat. You will sleep better and you will reduce the cost of running your air conditioning. A fan is also a cost efficient way to keep cool. A quick fix for your ceiling fan is to rotate the blades to turn counterclockwise to push the cool air down to the floor and your bed! #3: Jump in the lake at your waterfront property or your friends, or even at the local beach or pond.
